A Pouch For My Girly Essentials

Hello everyone, season’s greetings to you all. I’m so excited to share with you all this cute pouch I made in 30 minutes. Yes you heard me, in 30 minutes. So I have an upcoming trip and the traveling bag I ordered didn’t come with any pouch for my girly essentials. I was going to buy some since the trip date is almost near but I thought of making it myself.

My mom offered to make the pouch for me because I’ve been very busy moving up and down making enquiries for my trip. It was a little surprising because she never offers to sew for me. She believes every sewing project helps me learn something. Though I was happy she asked, I reminded her that I still need little projects like these to make me better.

She agreed and said she could make it in less than 30 minutes so she challenges me to make it in 30 minutes. Honestly, I didn’t have faith in myself in the beginning because I knew how long it could even take me to cut my pattern not to talk of sew.

My mom have this blue floral fabric she’s been keeping for months so I asked her to give me 10inches by 15 inches and she did. I added an off white fabric and linen to make the pouch stronger since the blue fabric is very thin and light. As usual I spent about 15 minutes trying to cut the pattern of the pouch.

After getting the pattern right, I cut it from the other fabric and linen.

I then attached the zip to the pouch. I got this zip from an old skirt I’ve been wanting to unpick for an up cycling project.

While fixing the zip, I made a mistake which I later tried fixing. Even though it wasn’t perfect, I believe I learned a lot from that.

I then sewed the far right and left sides of the pouch together.

And the moved on to the corners of the pouch. And I was done.

I’m so glad I could make this pouch because it has saved me money and the time I would have spent going out to look for a pouch to buy. When I think about how outrageous the price would have been since we’re in a festive season, I even get more excited. My mom was actually impressed and I’m also happy I finished on time. Thank you for your time.
