Have you ever noticed that the worse the weather outside, the more beautiful everything around you is? On this day, the city looked stunningly beautiful. The sun was shining brightly, the sky was piercingly blue, the air was crystal clear. But the icy wind easily blew through my warm jacket and woollen jumper. I took a bus to Rumyantsevsky Garden, I hoped that the walls of the houses of the neighbouring streets would serve as a protection from the wind and I could take a short walk through the garden.

In the centre of Rumyantsev Garden there is an obelisk dedicated to the victories of Count Peter Rumyantsev. On the sides of the obelisk there are two historical fountains. The fountains do not work in winter, the new season will start in about a month. Rumyantsev Garden was arranged in the second half of the XIX century on the site of the old market square. This garden was organised at his own expense by the merchant Stepan Solovyov, some old-timers call the garden after the surname of its founder - Solovyov Garden.

The weather remained as beautiful and as cold, and after about ten minutes of walking through the garden I realised that my plans for the day had to be corrected. I didn't want to go home, I wanted to walk some more - so I made a compromise decision, I went to the museum. Next to the Rumyantsev Garden is the Academy of Arts. It is an institution of higher education that trains architects, painters, graphic artists, and art historians. Part of the building is occupied by the museum.

The Museum of the Academy of Arts has three departments: painting, architecture and sculpture. The Department of Architecture presents an exposition devoted to the construction of St. Petersburg. This department contains design models of outstanding architectural monuments. Some projects were not realised, and you can see them only at this exhibition. Among other models, there is a model of the building of the Academy of Arts, as well as a model of the garden pavilion in the inner courtyard. The garden building is a yellow building with columns, it can be seen in the courtyard of the Academy of Arts, I photographed this building through the window glass.

The exposition of the first floor is the department of painting, temporary exhibitions are held here. Also on the first floor there is a hall where lectures and concerts are held. On the ground floor of the museum there is a department of casts, these casts help students to get acquainted with the masterpieces of ancient sculpture. Many of these casts were made from the originals back in the 18th century. After visiting the museum, I decided to go to a café and have a coffee and a bun.
