Lake Linouw (Linow) is a volcanic lake located outside Tomohon, near Manado, Indonesia. Several hydrothermal vents spew hot gas from the edges and depths of the lake. The changing chemical composition of the lake means its color often changes color, ranging from red, to dark green, and even dark blue. This lake is bordered on its sides by Mount Lokon and Mount Mahawu. The smell resembling rotten eggs immediately hit your nose as soon as you arrived at the Linow Lake area. This aroma comes from the smell of sulfur that is spread around the lake.

It is said that this sulfur is the remainder of the eruption of Mount Mahawu which occurred hundreds of years ago. The name Linouw comes from the Minahasa language which means a place where water gathers.
Lake Linow water is hot water that contains sulfur and magnesium sulfate, which is said to be able to cure various skin diseases. However, visitors must be careful with the pools of boiling hot mud on the edge of the lake. In this lake, we can see the color of the water which can change color to green, blue and brownish yellow. Changes occur due to elements. buried in the lake and the refraction and reflection of sunlight which causes the color of the water in Lake Linow to change.

Meanwhile, around the lake, endemic animals live in the form of grouse and insects. By local residents, this unique insect that lives in water, has wings and can fly is called "sayok" or "komo". These insects are also consumed by residents. Birds of various species also build nests on the edge of the lake, so that sometimes small and large birds sing as they cross the lake. Various kinds of plants also live there. A stretch of green grass on the edge of the lake is a suitable place to sit while taking shade under a tree.

Tourists who want to enter the Lake Linow area only need to pay a ticket of IDR 35,000. The ticket includes a glass of coffee or tea. If there are additional light snacks typical of Manado, the price will of course be different. The facilities are quite good, the parking area and toilets are clean.

And that's it for the trip to Lake Linow which has beauty and charm that can amaze our hearts because of the views that we can immediately enjoy.
Thank you very much, and greetings
