Built in 1865, in the charming Queen Anne Victorian style, this timeless architectural marvel emerged courtesy of the Nelles family, who were United Empire Loyalists that sought refuge in Canada following the American Revolutionary War. Supported by grants from the crown, the family acquired expansive swathes of land, bolstered further by contributions from the esteemed Native leader, Joseph Brant.
The home stayed in the Nelles family for than a century. After the family was gone it fell to neglect under an indifferent owner, descending into a state of disrepair by the 1990s. It became Abandoned and forgotten
I am so happy to have been able to document this house! the architecture is truly one of a kind!
