My grandma's my role models

Why growing up, I never really understood what a role model is all about. But as time went on, I began to understand what it was. I don't have a particular person that has inspired me in life. Many people contributed to my growth.

But the person I can single out will be my grandma. Ye's my mother's mother and father's mother. Both women inspire me a lot. Let me tell you a little story about each of them and how they inspired me in life.

My mother's mother was a very hard-working woman; she lost her husband at a tender age, left with five children to cater for; she started selling garri to see her children through school, and she added pap and other business till her children came of age to assist in running the home.

Those were the stories I had, but from what I witnessed I grew up seeing her selling mama put(local bukka). I loved her food a lot, the way she makes her stew with dry fish, in fact anytime I travel down for holidays. I will always be her assistant; I will count her money and make a list of the next things to buy.

She taught me hard work and how to make delicious meals without using all the artificial spices that people use in their food now. She was resilient and a very determined woman. She will always crack jokes that you can't tell when she is bothered about something. I learned a lot from her that has helped me to navigate life, and I won't fall into any desperation at all.

As for my father's mother, she was a fashionista, and like my mother's mother, she was a full-time hustler and businesswoman. She was into the fish business, and when I stayed with her, even if there were no sales that day, she would smile and thank God. She taught me that in all things, I should always thank God cause he knows everything.

These women in my life taught me different things about life; my father's mother was educated and more exposed, and she made me love traveling; I hardly judge other tribes because of her. I learned to accommodate people, and whenever I visit anywhere, I want to see the good in them. She taught me how to wear heels and walk straight. Funny right, but that is the truth.

My mother's mother taught me that as a woman, never depend on anyone for survival but yourself; she let me know that as long as you breathe, there will always be a struggle, but always push it each day with a positive mindset.

My grandma's inspires me the most in life; I love them very much.
