'The White Lotus' Season 2 by HBO Review🎥: In love with Sicily⚜️

Hello, friends, as you may have already noticed by the title of this post, I watched in record time (for me) the second season of The White Lotus, and believe me it was partly because of the free time I currently have, but also the fact that I thought it was so good that I needed to know what happened chapter after chapter. And as always, we were given a season of 7 chapters (remember that it is a short series) but with the peculiarity that this time it was filmed in Sicily, Italy.

One thing it has in common with the first season is the dark humor and the balance between social breakdown and the characteristic drama that director Mike White always brings to the screen.

    Synopsis

We return to the game of Who was the one who died, walking through this group of guests staying at the White Lotus in Italy. We can highlight dysfunctional marriages or in crisis, people with identity problems and emotional voids and that constant bad habit of seeking redemption at any cost. We return to old themes such as social inequality but this time they added more flavor with a bit of hedonism and as always that tangle of secrets to be discovered in which our characters always end up sunk.

If you've made it this far then you can assume I'm recommending the series, so as always, I'll leave you with my reasons for coming to this:

    Characters and Performances.

In the first season we saw a somewhat withdrawn Jennifer Coolidge, but now in this season the story with the more strength and intrigue of Tanya McQuoid where she gives us humor and naivety at the same time, undoubtedly being the center of attention for obvious reasons.
I must also highlight Harper's character, who is so full of cynicism at the beginning that you either love her or hate her, and that's what her character is, a pure polarity waste. Without a doubt, the chemistry between the actors transcends the screen so we again applaud the casting director who put together a rather ostentatious cast in the first place and it still worked.

    Direction and Visual Style

The social criticism this time climbed a step further in social discomfort but always beautifully seen from the tourist exploration without leaving aside the power relations and that blessed the theme of privilege that few have in life and how they misuse or squander it for trifles that rest on their own ego.
The visual style was impeccable, giving us landscapes with an incredible cultural richness without leaving aside the director's vision, thus achieving a perfect contrast that can be appreciated individually or in a group and will have the same effect.

    Themes and Message

The search for identity of each character was for me that I can highlight the most, because we saw several of them really lost in their lives, consumed by family, emotions or the taboo of blossoming what you really are.
The individual tensions were permeating as each theme was taking shape, and I'm sure that more than one who already saw the season could identify in some way with some of the messages that each story leaves us.

    Conclusion

I definitely liked it more than the first season, keeping my interest and attention to detail from beginning to end to know who were the ones who died this time and under what circumstances, to which perhaps I was not entirely satisfied by the death of Tanya so silly but I feel that in the end all this series of unfortunate events invites us to reflect.
