I haven't been blogging very much lately, but recently discovered the new Ai feature on PeakD and spent some time experimenting with a few of the various prompts. These tools are a gift to writers, especially short fiction writers. I was really impressed with how accurately (and quickly) the prompt was able to form constructive opinions about my writing.
When the Critical Analysis prompt said the twist in my short story, The Ford Pickup, was too predictable or cliché, it stung a little. When it said my other short story, A Full Moon, lacks a clear plot and resolution, that stung too. Here I was thinking my writing was great because it received over 500-1000 upvotes. But how many upvoters have the time or energy to do a full analysis of my 1500 word story and leave such an opinionated comment?
After some consideration, I realized these Ai chatbots are spot on. My short story does lack a plot and resolution. The other one is a little cliché. This feedback from the Ai features on PeakD are exactly the radical candor that I need for my development as a writer. Some of the opposing opinions relating to my blog posts are things that don't even cross my mind. It's a really interesting feature and if you haven't applied it to your writing, I recommend it.
