Cloudy Valley
On a brief trip I made to Caracas, the capital city of Venezuela, to attend to some personal matters that required my presence, I had the opportunity to stay during my stay of about 2 or 3 days in an apartment located in some hills on the outskirts, where I had a great view over the city.
Caracas is located in a valley, having as its northern border the Coastal Mountain Range (Cordillera de la Costa) and the El Avila National Park, also known as Waraira Repano, the name with which it was baptized by the indigenous people who inhabited the area before the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century.
This mountain range separates the city from the Caribbean Sea, and constitutes one of its major tourist attractions, being possible to visit it, either on foot hiking or ascending in a modern cable car to a height of about 2140 meters above sea level.
En un breve viaje que hice a Caracas, la ciudad capital de Venezuela, para atender algunos asuntos personales que requerían mi presencia, tuve la oportunidad de alojarme durante mi estadía de unos 2 o 3 días en un apartamento ubicado en unas colinas de las afueras, donde tenía una gran vista sobre la ciudad.
Caracas está situada en un valle, teniendo como su frontera norte la Cordillera de la Costa y el Parque Nacional El Avila, también conocido como Waraira Repano, el nombre con el que fue bautizado por los indígenas que habitaban la zona antes de la llegada de los conquistadores españoles en el Siglo XVI.
Este cordón montañoso separa a la ciudad del Mar Caribe, y constituye uno de sus mayores atractivos turísticos, siendo posible visitarlo, bien sea a pié haciendo senderismo o ascendiendo en un moderno teleférico hasta una altura de unos 2140 metros sobre el nivel del mar.
