Monastery on the mountains - watercolours on paper

Hello all dear hivers and welcome back to my blog. Today I am sharing a watercolour painting depicting a mountain landscape with a monastery. I tried to give the sense of silence and peace that hovers in mountainous areas far from civilisation. To achieve a satisfactory result, I painted the sky very high with higher peaks hiding in the clouds.

Initially, I wet the paper with water to achieve a softer effect of the watercolour brush strokes.

With the colours cerulean blue, Payne's grey and violet, I spread the first patches of colour.

Then I delineated some peaks to bring out the distances between the foreground and background.

I painted dark patches of vegetation and shadows at the bottom and outlined the shapes of trees on the hills.

Finally, I painted some creepers and grass on the roofs of the monastery.

Monastero in montagna - acquarelli su carta

Ciao a tutti cari amici hivers e bentornati sul mio blog. Oggi condivido un dipinto ad acquarello che raffigura un paesaggio di montagna con un monastero. Ho cercato di dare il senso di silenzio e di pace che aleggiano in zone montuose lontano dalla civiltà. Per ottenere un risultato soddisfacente ho dipinto il cielo molto alto con vette più alte che si nascondono tra le nuvole. Inizialmente ho bagnato il foglio con acqua per ottenre un effetto più morbido delle pennellate degli acquarelli. Con i colori blu ceruleo, grigio di Payne e violetto ho steso le prime campiture di colore. Poi ho delienato alcune vette per risaltare le distanze tra il primo piano e lo sfondo. Ho dipinto macchie scure di vegetazione ed ombre in basso. Infine ho dipinto dei rampicanti e dell'erba sui tetti del monastero.
