Can Parents Make A Better Society?

Most of the time we hear people say that peer pressure is something that is a myth and people will still go on to do what they want regardless of the force acting on them. Most of the time when I argue with this kind of people I see it as a waste of my time cause I won’t side with what they are saying and they won’t also side with what I say as well.

Peer pressure from my side is very much in effect as I think most times people are influenced by their peers in good ways and bad ways as well. Mostly when I argue with this people I ask them why is it that when someone does good we attribute it to their upbringing but when they act in a bad way we try to divert it to something else.

I won’t say this is the mindset everywhere but it happens like that in some cases. As much as we ignore the fact I strongly believe that our upbringing play a crucial role in how we turn up. Yes, I agree that at times your parents do their best but due to external factors you don’t turn out how they would have preferred you to turn out.

I say this on something that happened to me when I was little. I remember this day I crawled into my mother’s room and stole her money. At that time I think I was barely 6 years but then I knew how to crawl and take money from a purse. My mom was sleeping so I thought I was being sleek. I took the money out and boy at that time it was a lot of money for a child who was barely 6. I called a couple of my friends and with that money we bought some edibles.

As far as I can remember we bought biscuits and fish lol. Each time I remember the fish part am like ah what was I even thinking 😂. But then I think I was overwhelmed with how much money I took.

Few minutes into my enjoyment my sister came for me. She said I was being called back at home and I knew I was in for it. The beating I got that day only God knows and boy since then I got to know that stealing was bad. For me I’ve never forgotten that experience even though it happened when I was barely 6.

So for me how you are brought up plays a big role in how you behave or act in society. Like I said for most people it’s not down to their parents or guardians as they have done an excellent job but for most people it should be down to how they have been brought up in my opinion.

The theory of peer pressure will always be a hypothesis as most people agree and most people disagree as well. But then I think just as we have positives and negatives at times it’s not down to a single factor. I also believe that it’s deep rooted in some people and all they need is a spark to bring it out.
