The truth is that I don't anticipate going to the kitchen every morning; sometimes I slack behind or give tons of excuses just to run away from it. I could say I got lucky because my third sister began to show interest in cooking. She took care of the everyday cooking, and my happiness was beyond what you could imagine. I just helped out on a few occasions, and whenever she doesn't feel like I have to take over.
But then suddenly my life took another turn; this time it wasn't about the cooking; it was about taking care of everything. I have to stay with my auntie. She is sick and old, so I do everything for her. I cook for her, go to the market, decide on what to eat, and eventually everything. At first I didn't like it because this was just from frying pan to fire. I was enjoying my life but now have to take care of everything, including finances.
I can tell the hardest part of it is not just the cooking but what to cook the next day. This has made me worried that most times I begin to put myself in my mum's shoes. Is this how she really thinks of what we eat the next day?
Cooking every day has made me love cooking, sometimes when I come across cooking videos on social media. I love to try the recipe. My personality is about trying new things, and I do it in cooking too. I might decide to try some weird recipe, and it turns out to be a home-cooked meal. My enthusiasm in cooking has made me open a Youtube channel on it. As I cook, I video each step and later on edit my video and still make revenue out of it.
In my grocery-buying style, I actually buy things I need early in the morning before going to work. I noticed that by buying things earlier in the morning in the market, you will get to buy fresh foodstuffs like fresh tomatoes, peppers, and vegetables, and it seems cheaper than late hours in the evening or afternoon.
When it comes to other foodstuffs like beans, rice, spaghetti, and noodles. I usually buy in bulk, and it usually lasts more and saves me time and stress.
One of the kitchen accidents I could recall is having a cut on my palm when I was cutting vegetables. That day I was in a hurry to finish my cooking so fast because I had other things to meet up with and didn't know when I cut myself. Though the wound wasn't deep, so it healed within a few days. I try to be extremely careful while in the kitchen so I can avoid unnecessary kitchen
accidents.
