    Hello, music lovers! šŸŽ¶

It's Friday again, and a new #newtunes selection of fresh music is upon us for the weekend and beyond.
This week, apart from a couple of established names, we have some lesser-known musical heroes just starting their musical journey.

They are now seeking answers to whether they will succeed or not. By listening, you can give them a few minutes of your time.
If you don't like something, skip it.

Mogwai - God Gets You Back

Mogwai, a Scottish post-rock band from Glasgow, has performed since 1995 and has released ten albums in three decades. A week ago, it unveiled a new single and announced a world tour.
More instrumental than vocal, this guitar and keyboard ode, smelling of shoegaze, is in no way a departure from the band's established style that has captivated their following.

    Suzanne Vega - Rats

The American artist, poet, guitarist, and, last but not least, Buddhist from New York, who had several global hits in the late 1980s and 1990s (Tom's Dinner, Luka, etc.) and picked up many awards (Billboard Music, NME, Ascap, MTV Video, Grammy), has been appearing on the music scene less and less lately. Her ninth album was released in 2016.
Ten days ago, she released the single and video Rats, with a slightly synth-punk sound that is already stirring up music critics and listeners in the debate about who or what this song is actually for.

    ƘKSE feat. E L U C I D - Skopje

ƘKSE is a new, experimental, and avant-garde jazz project that combines established solo musicians from different continents. With the eponymous debut album, the initiator of the project, Mette Rasmussen, a Norwegian saxophonist, and, in collaboration with well-known hip-hop singers (Billy Woods, Elucid, Maassai, and Cavalier), wants to take the perception of jazz to an entirely different level, broader and closer to a younger, more diverse audience. I posted the song "Skopje" because I somehow recognized the Balkan inputs embedded in the sound picture. Otherwise, it's got nothing to do with the city of Skopje.

    Buzz' Ayaz - Arkos

Buzz' Ayaz is a band from Cyprus, from the divided Nicosia. The musicians involved are from both sides, Greek and Turkish. They loop, layer, and manipulate the sounds of the classic island instruments tzouras and bouzouki and the local folk genre rebetiko with synth help, creating a unique version of a kind of Mediterranean psychedelic ethno-folk.

    šŸŽµ šŸŽ§ šŸŽµ

    Monolake - Red Alphonso

Monolake, the name behind Berlin-based producer Peter Henke, a pioneer of electronic music and an innovator (he was involved in the development of the Ableton Live software, which has become a fixture in every electronic music studio), released the album Studio in early September, in which he explores the studio as a space of individual free expression or exploration, where ideas and thoughts circulate freely, become real, sometimes discarded or become part of a larger whole, but also as an extension of the artist's creativity. Of interest to fans and followers.

    šŸŽµ šŸŽ§ šŸŽµ

    The Dare - Open Up

The Dare is the project of American musician Harrison Patrick Smith, who took advantage of his five minutes to release his debut album in early September this year with the provocative title What's Wrong with New York? Retro-sounding synths, percussive samples, and sawing digital bass and funk guitars form the foundation for Smith's shimmering facade of media glamour.
Indie sleaze revival of late-last-century party and music - well, I wouldn't say there's any nostalgia here because there's probably nothing wrong with New York; maybe it had even more problems before.

Mamman Sani & Tropikal Camel ā€“ Sultan Umnaruā€™s Trip

Mamman Sani Abdullaye is a pioneer of Nigerian electronic music. His first works date back to 1978. He wrote the Nigerian national anthem, among other things.
On his latest album, Nijerusalem, released last week, he collaborates with Berlin-based producer Tropical Camel, who has roots in North Africa. The result is a fusion of Nigerian organ and synthesizer music with modern electronic beats. It is minimalistic yet rich, packed with tradition, melodies, and rhythm.

    Alex Pester - Tongue-Tied Tiger

Alex Pester, an English musician, songwriter, and illustrator, is a one-man band. He writes, plays, produces, and releases everything himself. He caught my attention when I read somewhere that he mentioned Syd Barrett's whimsy as his guiding principle.
Being a Pink Floyd fan, especially the early ones, I immediately listened to his latest album, Boy, which came out last week.
It seems to me that there is some truth in what he said.

šŸŽ¶That's all for today, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!
