During my high school days, i so much dreaded resuming school activities after the holiday was over... This is not to say that i didnt enjoy going to school (in fact I so much loved going to school and meeting up with my friends at school), I only loved the holidays more :D. Holidays for me was always fun because I would visit places I wanted and my parents would always be there for me to provide whatever I needed.

So each time the date for school resumption would be nearing, you would see it written all over me that I wasn't happy... especially if i was on vacation at my cousin's house which was one of the best places for me to be. But the good thing is that, the sadness that came as a result of the thought of school resumption was temporary because once I arrive at school, my mood changes to the positive side and as soon as I sight my friends, I realize how much I missed them and everything returns back to normal.

Looking back at my experience back then in my high school days, I can totally relate to this time where kids wouldn't want their holiday to end and would dread school resumption. Having that experience means that when I become a parent, I would implement different techniques to smoothen the transitioning from holiday mood to school mood, and get my kids back on track to focus on the school activities.

If I was to be a parent today, Here are some transitioning techniques I would make use of to help my kids adjust smoothly...

    Gradual reintroduction of school routine
I know it is not so easy to quicky switch from holiday mode to school mode at the snap of a finger, so as a parent, I would start to reintroduce school routine gradually... preferably some days before the official school resumption... instead waiting for the resumption date and diving straight back into school routine.

Imagine a kid that has been waking up late in the morning since school closure, and now is tasked to wake up by 6am to prepare for school... This change can be really hard for the kid to adjust immediately, especially for a kid that has invested so much time and attention in holiday activities. So for me, it would be much smoother and a lot easier for the kid to start adjusting days before the official school resumption date.

This can be done by waking the child up the usual wake up time days before school resumption and when the school resumption date reaches, the child is already back up to speed with the usual wake up time, make it less of a hustle for the child.

    Organizing school supplies
Days before the official school resumption, I would start arranging and organizing school supplies for my kid. There's something about this that gets kid excited. So when I start to plan with the kid on what items to get days before school resumes, the child begins to get excited and slowly begin to get back to school mode and start getting excited to return to school.
