Learning never ends.

Many times I tell people about knowledge, or when we get into discussions about learning and advanced learning. I used to keep to the point that seeking knowledge is diverse and it never ends somewhere. Where you think your knowledge is at its peak is actually where someone else's knowledge began. You can’t know everything, you can just know an aspect of something.

Also when we have to talk about learning, I see learning as something we have to do passionately. We have to learn out of passion. Most times we struggle with knowledge when what we are trying to learn is not something we are passionate about. When there is little or no motivation towards what we are about to learn.

At times when I see some parents force their wards to study something in the university or also forcefully have them do some other things away from what they are passionate about, I feel so pathetic for such a child. The best form of learning is when there is a physical and mental attachment between the learner and what they are about to learn. There would be some kind of natural understanding coming alongside.

I will take myself as an example. There was a time when I had to write my pre-admission examination at the university. My dad wanted me to study biochemistry, but, I wanted to further in Islamic studies. I love anything related to Arabic and Islamic knowledge. But I wasn’t chanced to go for it.

The pressure of getting admitted as a student of biochemistry was just too much, I couldn’t cope with the courses and examinations despite my dedication to learning and studying further. At some point, I had to change my course to agriculture.

In my senior secondary, one of the subjects I had a lot of interest in was agriculture but I never had plans of studying one in the university. The change in course made it a little easier for me, when I started I got admission at that very first attempt.

I thought agriculture in the institution would be way easier just like that of senior secondary, but it took another dimension. Not only did I find it difficult to cope in my first year, but I struggled to understand what it was all about. With time I had to create a passion towards it and that was when I was able to understand it better. I found it difficult to understand the theoretical aspects of it. But I promised myself once I was out of the university I would go for the practical aspect.

Embracing the practical side of it was like cracking an egg. It was so easy for me to understand and I found myself learning at a faster pace. I realized that learning isn’t just about being literate in one field, but is there a connection between you and what you are about to learn?

Many people just dive into an aspect of learning just because they have a friend in that field or because they see someone who is out there making money from it. In the end, they might have to struggle a lot while trying to acquire such knowledge because they are not passionate about such a field of learning.

This is my response to the hive learners community weekly featured content on Hive for the week 108 edition2 and the topic to be discussed is IS LEARNING THAT HARD?
