Spring flood of the Dnipro river

    Hey, guys! How's it going?

I'm still going through some challenges with my apartment and don't have access to my PC to download and process photos from my camera. But I still can take pictures with my old but good friend Samsung Galaxy S10. So don't be a harsh judge.😊 Besides, things started to slowly go back to normal.

This is my entry to #WednesdayWalk challenge initiated and hosted by @tattoodjay. A BIG THANKS to him for supporting this community and making the challenge run!

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

And it seems that walking once a week is all I can afford right now but I appreciate it. There are so many unexplored spots, but some parts and the environs of Kyiv were transformed beyond recognition. This is one of them.

    Park Natalka. Obolon, Kyiv.

One may argue regarding the effectiveness of Vitaliy Klitschko as mayor of the capital, but several undoubtedly beautiful and modern places appeared during his rule. This is one of them.

I remember I was here ages ago on a gloomy day like this. It didn't look like a nice place for a walk even considering the views of the Dnipro river. It was a tour with a guide dedicated to "secret objects" of Stalin's times. The project envisaged the construction of a strategic railway under the river. They planned to construct 2 tunnels on the north and south. But in 1941 when WWI reached the Soviet Union the further work on the project folded. So, one of these tunnels should start in this area where the part now located.

The area is situated below the dam that protects the city from the river. It has always been a tidbit of expensive land of Kyiv. There was an attempt to give several adjacent areas of the green zone for development, but the public, with the support of the city authorities, managed to get this land back, and now there is a wonderful park here. Klitschko called it the gold standard and model of the capital's parks.

Enough stories, let's go for a walk!

This is the season of the spring flood and adverse winds. I haven't been here before and I don't know what it looks like in the summer. As you can see, water floods part of the footpaths in the spring. Trees inundated by spring flooding of the Dnipro. It looks so unusual within the city.

This is a kind of a bridge and it's dry.

Well, this footpath is partly under the water. This place is popular among ducks and river gulls, mostly because people feed them I guess.

A few more pictures of the park itself. The piercing wind didn't let me enjoy a long walk, I should get dressed warmer. So I headed to my car after walking along the water.

It seems that the trees in this park were treated with some substance that left traces of copper color. Okay if it's okay for the trees.

A couple of funny birdhouses. The second one is made in the shape of acorn. Wonderful idea and looks very natural!
