There is this beautiful but now scarce lizard. I don’t know what it’s called in English however in my local language it’s known as (gumugumu). It is a lizard associated with mystical powers or witchcraft here in the southern part of Africa specifically Zambia. Due to the myth that surrounds the lizard people usually kill it whenever the find it. Growing up as a kid I believed this fallacy too. Hence we would stone this beautiful creature. As an adult now I find this lizard to be fascinating, though it’s not found everywhere nowadays. These types of lizards are now found in woodlands. My work place is one of the areas you can find such lizards as seen in the video below.
