Hello, Splinterlands fans! 👋
Today, I’d like to share an exciting experience from one of my recent battles. This match perfectly highlighted the importance of strategy and smart card selection, especially when dealing with the Little League, Taking Sides, and Lost Magic rulesets. Let’s dive into the details of a card that truly stole the show: BROKEN EARTH THUG.
The Beginning: Crafting the Strategy
With only 24 mana cap, I needed a formation that was both efficient and deadly. Dragon element was off-limits, and magic monsters were banned from the arena. Given the circumstances, I chose BROKEN EARTH THUG, a card perfectly suited for close-range combat thanks to its Opportunity and Cripple abilities.
However, the success of this match didn’t rest solely on BROKEN EARTH THUG. To boost its damage output, I added RAVENHOOD WARDEN, whose Inspire ability increased melee attack for the entire team while offering Protect with a shield bonus.
In the frontline, I positioned WILY COYOTIAN and SHADOW SNITCH, two monsters with low mana cost but impressive durability. Meanwhile, in the backline, Weirding Warrior was tasked with one specific role: to destroy the enemy's shield.
When the battle began, the strengths of this lineup became clear. BROKEN EARTH THUG, with its Opportunity ability, targeted the weakest enemy monsters with precision. This combo became devastating, especially with the buff provided by RAVENHOOD WARDEN. One by one, enemy monsters fell swiftly.
The most intense moment came when the enemy tank tried to hold the line. Their defense crumbled under the relentless strikes of Weirding Warrior, paving the way for BROKEN EARTH THUG and the frontline tanks to launch an all-out assault.
I was especially impressed by SHADOW SNITCH, who held the frontline remarkably well thanks to its high health. At the same time, WILY COYOTIAN consistently pressured the opponents with powerful melee attacks.

Conclusion and Lessons Learned
This match showcased BROKEN EARTH THUG’s potential in this type of ruleset. Its Opportunity ability allowed it to zero in on vulnerable targets, while Cripple ensured the enemies couldn’t recover easily.
Pairing it with RAVENHOOD WARDEN was a game-changer. Inspire amplified the melee attack across the team, making them a formidable force to reckon with.
Here’s my tip: If you encounter similar rulesets, go for monsters with low mana cost but high efficiency. A combination of melee attackers and shield destroyers can dominate battles with low mana cap.
So, why not give this strategy a shot in your next battle? And don’t forget to share your own thrilling experiences too! 🎮✨
