How I cope with my screen time.

The world we find ourselves in today is so funny at times if we should think about it. We embraced technology and now it has almost taken us away from our real selves. The advent of mobile phones was one hit to the world at large. Not everyone can afford to get a car, so we end up trekking at times which is kinda natural and healthy. But you see mobile phones!

There are times when I feel incomplete only because my phone is not on me. It has become my partner. I would have to hold by my side every time. But this now varies from one person to another. And the way it varies also has impacts on the individual.

I am taking my bro as an example, he is so used to his phone to the extent that at times when he sleeps he still has it in his hands while asleep. And that doesn’t mean the phone would fall off or maybe you can remove it easily. He has gripped it so hard.

But on my end, I don't even fancy sleeping uncomfortably with my phone on me. So no matter how worrying the sleep may be, and how interesting whatever I am doing on my phone is at that moment, when I want to sleep I will drop the phone aside and sleep freely. Even during normal daytime, I would at times just drop my phone somewhere and do other stuff I have to do before getting back at it.

    My screen time

I just checked my screen time on my device settings and realized that I haven’t switched it on since the last time I turned it off. But at least I can tell a little about how I use my screen time in my daily activity.

Like I said, I am not the type that holds my phone with me 24/7. I would drop it whenever I get busy doing other things then get back to it again when I am done.

In the morning most of the apps that take away my screen time are not much. Mostly I am always active on WhatsApp for a few hours, then I check on other social media apps, X and YouTube and that won't even take me up to 30 minutes.

Ecency is another app that would take enough of my screen time because as soon as I am done checking for updates on those social apps then I am on Ecency most times. I use most of my time here on the app, creating content, engaging, and some other activities too.

Lastly, I also have most of my screen time randomised on other apps just for a few minutes.

I got less of a little effect from my screen time affecting me for real. This is because I inculcate the habit of not getting myself so addicted to it. Once you are addicted to your screen then I can say it might be a little hard for you to get over it. A day without your screen in front of you might be like years.

So getting rid of excess screen time, the one thing you can do is to inculcate the habit of trying to drop your device somewhere when you have other things to do. You can't be in the kitchen cooking and still have your device with you. Or while having laundry and still having your device. Set time limits for your time on your device.
