This is going to be a short post. I will concentrate on recommending music and different bands, with a special focus on the kind of lyrics that can be heard masterfully for this weekend that welcomes the month of June, and summer. The other time I was talking to my boyfriend about the abundance of songs whose only theme is love (or lack of love) and the quantity is ridiculous. Not only in this era, where it is undeniable that we are faced with 30-second hits on social networks; but from pop to the deepest rock, love seems to be one of the most overexploited topics.

Me concentraré en la recomendación de música y distintas bandas, con un foco especial en el tipo de letras que se pueden oír magistralmente para este fin de semana que da la bienvenida al mes de junio, y al verano. Y es que, la otra vez estuve conversando con mi novio sobre la abundancia de canciones que el único tema que desarrollan es el amor (o el desamor) y la cantidad es ridícula. No sólo en esta época, donde es innegable que estamos ante los hits de 30 segundos en redes sociales; pero desde el pop hasta lo más profundo del rock, el amor parece ser de los tópicos más sobreexplotados.
Here, I'll leave a personal and subjective selection of what I love to listen to. It touches on a wide range of themes. From despair, to laughter, to terror and contemplation. Music has too many variations to only exploit one type of action in the life that all humans live. In other words, even as a woman, I can become quite bored that almost all the time, everything that is listened to nowadays is related to love, love or eroticism.... There's nothing wrong with that, and I understand the logic behind the marketing, but it can get a bit bland.
Aquí, dejaré una selección, personal y subjetiva, sobre lo que amo escuchar. Que va tocando temas amplios. Desde la desesperación, hasta la risa, pasando por el terror y la contemplación. La música tiene demasiadas variantes como para únicamente explotar un tipo de acción en la vida que todos los humanos vivimos. Dicho de otro modo, incluso yo siendo mujer, me puedo llegar a sentir bastante aburrida de que casi todo el tiempo, todo lo que se escucha actualmente se encuentra dentro de lo relacionado al amor, al amar o al erotismo... No tiene nada de malo, y entiendo la lógica detrás del marketing, pero sí que podría llegar a ser algo soso.
Just to give two really short examples: Dua Lipa, a total genius, and Taylor Swift, who although I don't like her very much, I understand and respect the love and fanaticism she arouses in everyone, especially the younger ones. .... Although both are important and, as I said, famous and successful, it is no less true that almost everything they produce, including hits, hits and promotional singles, are related to more of the same: a love song, or related to that theme? Can you imagine a mainstream band or artist releasing an album like Marilyn Manson's ‘Antichrist Superstar’ these days?
Por sólo brindar dos ejemplos realmente cortos: Dua Lipa, una genia total y Taylor Swift, que aunque no me gusta mucho, comprendo y respeto el cariño y el fanatismo que despierta en todas las personas, especialmente las más jóvenes.... Si bien, ambas son importantes y como dije, famosas y exitosas, no menos cierto es que casi todo lo que producen, incluyendo hits, éxitos y singles promocionales, son relacionados a más de lo mismo: una canción de amor, o relacionada con ese tema... ¿Se imaginan a una banda o artista mainstream, que lance un álbum como "Antichrist Superstar" de Marilyn Manson en estos días?
Well I don't think so, really... I feel that nobody breaks the model. But I also think that it's not the artists' fault... Nowadays, it's all about views, plays and shares. Lists on Spotify only make sense if people go in and share. The romantic sense, maybe of yesteryear, of showing what you love just for the sake of making other people happy; I don't think it exists anymore... I don't follow that it's right or wrong, it's just that the lack of substance means that people don't stop to listen to music anymore. It's not all about hits, trends or challenges... Without further ado, my list (with videos) of the best non-love songs for this weekend begins.
No creo, la verdad... Siento que nadie rompe el modelo. Pero también creo que no es culpa de los artistas... Actualmente, todo está relacionado con views, reproducciones y shares. Las listas en Spotify sólo tienen sentido si las personas entran y comparten. El sentido romántico, quizá de antaño, de mostrar lo que amas sólo por el hecho de hacer a los demás felices; me parece que ya no existe más... No sigo ni que esté bien ni mal, sólo que la poca sustancia hace que ya la gente no se detenga a oír música. No todo es acerca de éxitos, tendencias o retos... Sin más que agregar, comienza mi lista (con vídeos) de los mejores temas -no de amor- para este finde.
