Ego is the Enemy of Responsibility

Being responsible is not only complicated but complex because you can be the most responsible person today, and tomorrow, you’re not.

Although there are several reasons for people to become irresponsible, but the fact remains that the responsibility burden is getting too heavy on their shoulders, so they run from it for relief. A few get back to wearing the heavy crown, but many never do. It’s never again.

This is true for the saying that—Heavy is the Head that wears the crown.

However, these days it’s meant for those who choose to wear the crown of responsibility. Because people now see themselves to be woke(whatever that means) are seeing responsibility as a choice that they would have to make — to wear the crown of responsibility or not to.

Taking responsibility for themselves to many people is now even a choice that they have to make. One thing I’ve learned about us humans is that we are our own personal enemy.

I don’t like the crowd, even though I do well with the crowd. Sometimes. Not all the time.

To some extent, I believe I can handle responsibility, be a leader and be the bigger person (when the need arise)but I don’t like to for the fact that I find it challenging to kill my ego. Being responsible is about being in service to others, and being egoistic means not serving or answering to no one.

Killing our ego is something I believe we humans needs to do every — day, hour, minute, and seconds. Because if we are being honest, with the way the world has chosen to evolve into separateness and individualism it’s almost impossible to see bullshit, and not react emotionally. Occasionally, it may come off in a bad way, like picking insults over constrictive criticism.

This Is not only for me, but with many others out there who still have their humanity intact. These days I feel sorry whenever I see or hear young adults who still feel life is all about themselves, their experiences and their happiness alone without having a way to answer to something greater than them. Like caring and looking out for others without expecting anything in return.

No master can be a great master without serving others. Being in service is about killing your ego to connect with those that are below you so that they can climb up.

This will be hard. In fact, I think this is one of the greatest and hardest test for any human to accomplish.

Nevertheless, I think I could have a chance if I can keep winning over my inner demon called…the ego, every day.

I’m the firstborn in my family and I sometimes see shit I don’t allow with any outsider coming from my siblings.

But I do let it slide by being the bigger person so that peace would reign. Even those around me now see me to be more calm and calculated nowadays, but I believe I’m merely scratching the surface because I know how massive this monsters have become over time. So for now, I believe it’s going to be a hard kill, which is why I’ve caged this beast and threw away the locks. And neither would I serve him his anger meal that might make him break out of this cage.

It’s difficult to kill, but it’s not impossible to starve until it’s dead. Do you think ego is our number one hindrance to being Responsible for ourselves because we don’t want to also be responsible to those around us? Furthermore, what do you think or picture when you hear the word EGO? Is it the devil within or something external? Share your thoughts below.

    Until next time
