Sometimes things just happen randomly, by chance or without any future plan or design...today was not one of those things. Rather, it was a premeditated, strategically thought out thing that has been carefully planned and precisely executed and yet not much effort was required.
Me sitting around all day watching television is as common as tits on a bull meaning it happens extremely rarely. It's not that I don't like television per se, just that there's always something else that's more important, more interesting or more valuable to do. It happens though, and today was one of those days; a lazy fucken Sunday
Every year for some sixty years an endurance car racing event has been held in Bathurst, New South Wales on a track that's made up of 6.1 kilometres of public roads closed off for racing events which was first opened in 1938. The track is used for a few different categories throughout the year but it's the V8 Supercars that race this weekend in Australia's biggest race called the Bathurst 1000.
It's a 1,000 kilometre race around a challenging track called Mount Panorama Racing Circuit, 161 laps in total with top speeds of over 305kp/h, which challenges man and machine for hours on end...many many hours. It starts in the morning and runs for most of the day and I'd planned to watch the whole thing, except for the parts when I fell asleep or was off getting snacks, and I was really looking forward to the thrills and spills, the strategies that would unfold and go right or wrong, and the highs and lows of what is a very challenging car race. I was also looking forward to doing nothing else all day which, in my humble opinion, I believe I deserved. Ok, maybe deserved isn't the right word, but it's rare that I have days like this and I was really looking forward to doing nothing much at all....which is pretty much what I did.
Although...If I'm totally honest, I was up early watering my garden and I washed one of my vehicles as well, but come mid-morning I was comfortable on my couch (with a coffee and snacks) watching the lead up to the race start. But, besides that couple hours of work in the morning the day was all about the couch, motor racing and lunch...and snacks. Glorious.
I made tacos for lunch, I know, fucken legit, and even had a couple Corona beers as well. Besides that, I had some other assorted snacks that I probably shouldn't have had, and far too many cups of coffee; what the hell though right? Sometimes one must have lazy days like this, or so I believe.
Later in the day I decided I'd cook a BBQ, sone venison I shot a while back, green salad and one more beer and as I sat eating I thought about how productive my day had been deciding really fucken productive summed it up really well.
Do you ever have days like this? I mean those on which you do very little and indulge in one of your passions to the exclusion of other things?
