Emcee POV
Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together as we make a warm welcome to our first place winner and star of the just concluded competition.
As promised,the organizers and sponsors have revealed the prize to be received as the sum of nineteen thousand dollars ($19,000) equivalent to thirty million naira (#30,000,000) in our home currency.
My POV
As I walked towards the stage in my stunning gold attire, I looked left and right to see the many people whose hands were busy just to honour me. I got to the stage after sashaying confidently like a supermodel and stood beside the emcee. The applause died down and that was when I actually saw the large check made out in my name for a whooping $19,000.
I felt like staggering but I knew that I had to hold it together and see this prize giving ceremony through. I spied the check with my peripheral vision, to confirm that was written was correct. Then the emcee turned to ask me a question.
”Miss Becky, how do you feel to have emerged as the first place winner for this competition?”
”Wow, I feel so honoured and I'm really so grateful”, I replied into the microphone.
”Okay, I have a tough question for you. Are you ready to answer it honestly?” he inquired.
”Yes I am” I answered enthusiastically.
*”Alright, here goes the question. *What are you going to spend your prize money of thirty million naira on, if you were given only one week?”
My response
Thank you for this question, it is not difficult at all and also many thanks to the sponsors of this competition. I would use the prize money to fulfill my life's long dreams.
I have always wanted to establish an educational center where everyone who is willing can attend to learn skills as well as the conventional education following a curriculum. This center will seek to expose learners to new and improved teaching styles and also give them room to explore their latent creativity.
I have the vision of making this center very affordable to all, especially to the female gender. This is because I would like to give the female gender a platform to try at greatness. Culturally, my gender have been sidelined and unappreciated. I would like to change that to the best of my ability.
In pursuing this dream, I would need good structures. This would lead me to buying buildings and renovating the buildings to my taste. Next thing would be buying of the equipments I need like computers, air conditioners, sewing machines, colour palettes and canvas, baking instruments, generator, solar panels and much more.
These equipment would be installed and connected, ready to be used. My budget for this would cover about twenty million naira (#20,000,000).
I would use five million naira to start up a non-profit organization for the less privileged and orphanages. Helping them to attain a form of stability in life.
The remaining five million naira will be used to assist my siblings in completing their education as well as in starting up a business of their choice. This would ensure that they do not end up in the unemployment circle, rather, they will become business owners of their own.
This is what I will do with the prize money I am receiving today. Thank you everyone. I said as I took a bow.
