Busy day yesterday that started early as normal for me. I spent the predawn hours getting my post written then I managed to get the LoRa radios working and connected to the mesh. These things are so tiny and they have OODLES of potential. There are 40 or so pins to work with for all kinds of sensors and various additions. My mind has been working overtime dreaming of uses.
We got everyone ready and out the door by 8:45 and were to the school about 9:15 for the tournament. SO MUCH NICER than last week. The school is huge and has well more than enough room for the number of people and it has been the site of tournaments for years so knows how to work with us. There was ample space in the stands and we found a spot near the team.
The mat assignments were up before everything started and nicely R's first match was right in front of our seats. He ended up losing his first match on points but he did really well. The next match was about 2 hours later and it was a rather fast one.
It started with the other kid taking R down and controlling him fairly well as they rolled on the mat.
Then in a super quick move R flipped the kid and he was on top and quickly got the pin. 36 seconds the match lasted.
He was going for 3rd with his last match but ended up losing in a really hard fought match. I ma very proud of him though for his attitude throughout. He got emotional after the matches but was mellow otherwise and did not focus on the outcomes so much. He has the mindset to try his hardest and that is really all I can ask.
We headed home after the tournament and made it back to the farm before 2pm. I knew it would be hot but didn't know how hot the greenhouse would be. It was SUPER hot. 110F!!! The plants were all wilted over and languishing in the heat so I quickly rolled up the side to exhaust the heat.
The spinach was NOT happy.
So it was time to pull down the inner plastic so the heat wouldn't get so high. I shoved the plastic out the rollup and have it laid out in the garden where I will fold it today and put in the garden shed to store until fall.
So the S9 was sitting on the milk crate and the inner plastic had kept it covered from water drips but without the inner plastic I had to come up with a new setup for it to keep it dry.
I found the sign a-frame and made it into the stand which I was able to set the metal over to act as a roof.
The boards are covered which is the imperative part.
I ended up moving it to the side a bit to be better covered but now without the inner plastic it gets to heat the entire greenhouse. Hopefully the air flow will dry out the condensation on the inside of the main plastic.
Mid afternoon I worked on the LoRas to get them to fit into the cases. The cases are not made for the larger antenna so I had to cut the case so I could make them fit. Seriously, look how small these things are!
Wifi, bluetooth, messaging, and some models have GPS on them, but mine don't though my next one will. One possible use is to have a switch mounted on the package box that when the door is opened the LoRa would send a message.
It was about 5pm when I got the fire going in the pit and it got fed with more pine needles and debris from the yard.
Last year @stryeyz took some garlic that we had in the house and planted the cloves in the celery rows that had not sprouted. She had planted them too late as it was too hot and most all of them did not grow. I was walking along the outside of the greenhouse and found that there are a number of them that DID manage to make it through the summer, the fall, the winter, and are growing now. Really wild and NOT something I have had happen before. They ARE bulbs so it makes sense but still. I plant to dig them up and I will plant them in the garlic rows.
UFC fight night was on and I wanted to see Tai fight. He is the Aussie fighter who is known for chugging beer from fans' shoes. He got his ass whooped and submitted in the first round.
The Kraken were playing the Predators but I had ZERO confidence in them so just kept music on while the game was on the tv. I grilled our burgers for dinner in the nicely still sunny evening.
My lack of confidence was warranted as they ended up losing badly.
We got out to soak a bit later than normal but I only managed about an hour.
Last night was NOT good. I woke up this morning with a horrible migraine from my TMJ which is slowly mellowing. Man Utd is playing Liverpool right now, I will be getting my new soldering iron today so I can put the headers on the LoRa, I have yard work to keep on, hopefully the pain will abate enough for me to get more done, then I will get a fire going in the evening to grill again for dinner.
