Glorious sunshine yesterday morning which managed to keep out from behind the clouds until early afternoon. It was still windy for much of the day and despite the sun the winds were chilly.
I headed into town for my chiro appointment and Dr. worked on my TMJ tendons which hurt! My neck and back are adjusting WAY easier now and are in much less pain. On my way home I stopped at North 40 to pickup supplies for around the farm.
I found that I had run low on both sizes of screws which I use EVERYWHERE around the farm. The tiller needed a new main belt as the one I had gotten for it sucked massive horse dick and died super fast. This one is a farm quality belt and should last for a long time.
What made me need the screws now is the fascia boards on the deck had started pulling the screws and separating. The screws that come with the decking fasteners are not the best so I used the sheetrock screws as I don't care if I see the heads or not. I need the boards fixed. It took me about 20 minutes to get them all in and the deck looks better now.
Then I wheeled the tiller down to the tool shed where I got the belt changed out. I had to remove a bunch of parts to get it on but in the end those parts hold the belt in line so I guess are there for a reason. Not too much longer and the beast will be getting a good workout around the farm.
The main garden gets opened up each winter on this end where I just have to remove 2 fence posts and I roll the fence to the wood post. It makes it nice and easy to close up each year and if I needed I could still get the truck and trailer in. The birds seemed a bit miffed at not having access anymore.
I went to pickup the boys from school and the dark clouds moved in and then once we were back the clouds dumped styro-snow on us in wave after wave.
The winds kept blowing pretty good and there was talk in the flying club about going out to Saltese but by the time anyone was out there it was super blown out. I checked the weather closely and chose not to go yesterday and instead will go today when the winds are more conducive.
Once home while the boys played on the trampoline I headed up the hill to the upper property to work on pulling some more trees while the ground is still soft. I dove into a few different stands and was able to kick over, pull down, yank out, and throw towards piles about 50 trees in all. There are still hundreds that need to come out from the rest of the pen but it is making a difference slowly.
At 4pm NHL games normally will come on and I put on the Capitals game just to have on. Holy crap was that a crazy scoring game. The first period ended 4-2 and the game ended 6-3. It was goal after goal and really fast.
I got dinner ready in more than enough time than got R to his wrestling practice. This weekend is a tournament but it is an hour+ south of us and we have other things going so he will go to a classmate's birthday party instead. There will still be 4 tournaments that will all be MUCH closer to us the rest of the month.
I picked him up at the end of practice which was a little thin on kids this time.
He had to go climb the bleachers with another kid to do a little exploring as we were heading out.
The Kraken game came on at 7pm and and I got home with R to see them down 1-0 but soon into the 2nd period were tied. In what ended up being a MIRACLE the local Spokane boy Yamamoto got the winning only goal in the shootout after OT and won it for them 3-2!
It's a constant anymore, when I have hockey on tv the boys end up in their skates smacking a puck around the floor of the living room. Thankfully they are good about keeping the puck on the floor and not in the air.
Got out to soak for an hour then made it back inside to watch the last of the Kraken game. Stupid 7pm starts put the end after 10pm.
Today is our mellow weather window for the week so I will go try and fly Saltese this morning before the winds get too strong after mid day. I need to work on the deck on the studio as the boards on it are loosening, boys to and from school, keep working on cleanup around the farm, then get dinner made this evening.
