Hello everyone. Yesterday I wrote about the historical courtyard in the village of Vranic in the vicinity of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. In addition to two churches from the 19th century, there were some other interesting houses here. Matica's house caught my attention as soon as I entered the yard.
I wondered if anyone lived there, but later I realized that no. It is a very old house, built in the first half of the 19th century, and apparently not much has been done on its renovation since then.
It is quite well preserved in its authentic appearance. As I looked at it, it looked kind of harmonious, like the house you draw when you were a child. The yard around is very spacious.
There are also bees kept by monks.
We learned that once upon a time, during the first Serbian uprising, participants met and made important decisions in this house. That is why this house is the only preserved uprising house in Serbia. It was locked and unfortunately we couldn't get inside. We looked at it from the outside from all sides.
And then I peeked through a window and was surprised by what I saw inside. Lots of objects that were used in Serbian households at the beginning of the 19th century.
Apart from this house and churches, there are several historical houses in this yard where corn was stored, as well as a dairy.
There is also a well in front of the house. My children are fascinated by the fact that water used to be taken from a well.
They were very curious to explore everything, as well as the cats we met there. 😊
After this random visit, we went on a planned trip to the ethno village of Zornica house, which I will write about in the following posts.
Thank you for reading.
