It's rare to see a chef who is serving good food that was made out of passion and genuine interest to make people happy about the food that they receive. I had a chance to experience that today.
My go-to Indian food is Chicken Biryani!
One of the restaurants that I often go to is ABC Indian-Muslim Food and although I like their food very much, sometimes it feels like it was too commercialized already. So, I do have that inkling to search for new restaurants that are offering Biryani that have that "home-style" cooking. The kind of biryani that reminds us of our mother's cooking.
A while ago, I had the pleasure of experiencing a new kind of Biryani and I'm excited to share my thoughts about it.
It's a hawker stall in Jalan Batu, the name of the restaurant is Mehfil Mughlai Food Point (Traditional Authentic Indian).
The noticeable thing about the signage is that it said "Traditional Authentic Indian". The chef made sure that he accomplished the slogan.
Tha Apalam is stunning! It doesn't look like any other apalam that I tried before. I didn't have the chance to verify it but I believe it's homemade and crafted with a specific intention to impress the customers. Well, I'm impressed about it.
I think it's baked instead of fried which is the healthier version too.
The thing about it that impresses me is that it only costs S$6 which is much cheaper than the majority of the Indian-Muslim restaurants in the city. It's affordable for a generous serving of chicken.
The Basmati rice was perfectly cooked and it isn't oily at all.
This is the recipe that fits well with my preference. This is the kind of Biryani that I could eat every day and don't feel guilty about it. I will surely come back to try the other offerings.
