It's bullrun season as we see BTC touching a new high. Following suit are the alt coins also making new highs left and right. This includes tokens of play to earn games also making new highs. On the other hand, SPS seems to be lagging behind.

I can't help but compare SPS to another trading card game, Gods Unchained. It's already up 76% year on year.

On the other hand, SPS didn't move the needle that much with only a 2.9% one year increase.

As much as we love the game, Splinterlands is a play to earn game and an investment as we need to spend to acquire cards to build decks and be competitive. We also need staked SPS to get more reward shares. The earning part is one of the main selling point of Splinterlands similar to other play to earn games. Like it or not, the price of the token is what attracts potential new players to invest into the game and let me emphasize the word INVEST because it's not fun to play this game for free unlike in 2019 where you can play with free cards and earn DEC. So how can the token price increase? Some say we need new players for that to happen. It's like a chicken and egg -- which should come first? Token price increase to attract players or new players to increase SPS? 😄

I remember my first play to earn game and how it got me onboarded. Alienworlds was going to be listed in Binance and got me curious so I made an account. While it's not much fun to play, it was cheap to get into not unlike the entry price of Splinterlands in 2019. I quit the game a long time ago because it got boring but checking the price of TLM now it's up 49% year on year.

Going back on topic, I believe to attract new players the team should try to get listed on a major exchange like Binance. First, getting listed will potentially increase the token price. Haven't we all heard the term, "Wen Binance?" The publicity from getting listed in a major exchange will attract potential players who will hopefully invest in the game. That's my opinion and I hope the Splinterlands team will consider it.
