Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Community Engagement Challenge. This time we'll be talking about taking advantage of rulesets. In Splinterlands battles, we don't only battle against our opponents, we have to deal with rulesets too. Rulesets can cripple us but it can also give us advantages in battle if we know how to make use of them. Today, I'll be showing a couple of battles against stronger opponents and show how I used the rulesets to gain an advantage in battle.
Battle 1 - Armored Up
Armored Up gives all monsters 2 additional armor. In this ruleset, it's advisable to use magic units since magic damage ignores armor. If your opponent doesn't use magic units then you already have the advantage. In this battle, I have the weaker units since my opponent has a level 7 summoner against my level 5. His units are also higher level than mine. However he picked ranged which is poor in this battle. Range units also have the disadvantage that they don't attack when placed in the first position. This cost my opponent the battle even if he had the stronger team.

Battle 2 - Rise of the Commons and Equal Opportunity
In this battle, we can only use common and rare monsters. Also, all monsters have the Opportunity ability. The key to this battle is speed and health. Opportunity will target the monster with the lowest health and who gets there faster and eliminates the other quicker will win the battle. Another strategy is to take advantage of the opportunity ruleset by having a unit with Martyr ability. The Martyr ability grants +1 to all stats to all monsters beside the monster who has the ability when the latter gets eliminated.
I chose the Water Splinter since this has strong common and rare units. I picked Commander Slade in the tank position. He is very strong and one of my favorite Rebellion reward cards. Beside him I placed a unit with Martyr ability. This unit has the lowest health so it's guaranteed to be targeted by the enemy. In the third position I placed Coastal Sentry. She will be very strong in this ruleset because of her Double Strike ability, speed and high damage output. For the rest of the team, I made sure that they are fast, deal a lot of damage and have higher health than my Venari Marksrat.
The opponent is stronger than me having a level 8 Kelya. He is of similar mind and also picked the Water Splinter. However, he didn't have a unit with Martyr. As expected, my Venari Marksrat was eliminated first and it powered up my Commander Slade and Coastal Sentry. Coastal Sentry was a beast in this battle as it dealt 5 melee damage and eliminated 2 enemy units in one round with her Double Strike ability. Speed and damage was the key in this battle, quickly eliminate your opponent and he will have less units to hurt your team.

Conclusion
In Splinterlands, we not only deal with our opponent but also have to take into account the ruleset as well. How do we gain an advantage and exploit the ruleset is another thing to consider. This makes battles more fun and offer posibilities for different strategies to synergize our team that we will use in battle.
Thank you for reading and have fun playing Splinterlands!
