The Wedding Party.

As a child, whenever I heard the word “wedding” I'll so excited, probably because I did the little bride’s duty on most of the weddings I attended. Clicking hands with my small husband (little groom) then gave me so many day-dreams on how I would want my own wedding to be. One of the imaginations I had back then was “wearing a wedding gown that will be, in my words, so long from Nigeria to America”. However, right now if i should hear the word “wedding” what comes to my mind next is the food. Mind you, I have ever been one of those who goes to uninvited parties because of food o..hehehe it's not up to that extent.

More than the food, I think my attention will be focused more on how organized the event would play out.

I'm sure I am not the only one who has attended a wedding and wasn't given food because of poor organization. In a case like that is where you'll see people rushing food and some might end up going with 2 or more plates of rice while people like myself that are hungry but love to form something and can't push because of food return home empty handed, no souvenirs and no food.

Oh my! I skipped the church wedding and dived over to the reception. Well since the reception carries more fun, I think it is quite understandable. I don't really have more challenges with the white other than most bride’s arriving late.

I remembered a time when I was made to join the choir for a friend’s wedding that was fixed by 10, the bride came in a few minutes past 12, at that time the lady leading the praise and worship had already sung her voice out, she was vexed and drained at the same time. I couldn't blame her at all, I was equally tired myself and I'm sure everyone present there felt the same way too.

In all honesty, a wedding for me now isn't the same way my younger self thought it was. As per my country’s tradition which regards bride price as the real marriage, It totally makes it a necessity. Then, being in a more civilized world, I would gladly pursue civil affairs to get a proper marriage certificate which should be fair enough, to getting the blessings from a priest or a pastor, with this I legally became a married woman.

Of course, I love parties and will eventually throw a party depending on my pocket. It's so unfortunate that most people end up in huge debts after getting married.
This very problem is not told to the public. It's however common since broken marriages have surfaced as a result of this reason.
I believe marriage or weddings are supposed to be done without stress, pleasing yourself on your big day and feeling happy, not dealing with a disorganized congregation or running into debts because of the wedding.

Just maybe if everyone could buy my ideal of a simple wedding, there would be more smiles and less stress on their remarkable day.
