There's been a ton of animal action in my yard this week! Yesterday I was outside and saw a huge bird in a tree that's about 30 feet from our house. I took a quick video but it had it's back to me so I wasn't sure what it was. I thought perhaps it was a falcon. About an hour later I went out again and lo and behold there was an owl sitting in the same tree. Here is a screenshot from the video I took. Since it was quite far away I had to zoom quite a lot so the image quality isn't top notch:
Here's the shakycam video (warning for sound, there's wind and a lot of birds makng noise!)

I thought it was pretty strange to see an owl during the day, I have heard them hooting many times in the evening but this is the first sighting. I looked up a list of owl's that we have locally and I believe it may be a Barred Owl. Research said that they sometimes hunt during the day if food is scarce and if it's overcast.
The funny/scary thing is I read an article a few weeks ago that 2 different women were attacked by an owl on a hiking trail not far from here. Owl attacks are very rare and they speculated it was because they had ponytails and the owl thought it was a squirrel or another small animal? Here is the article if you are interested: OWL ATTACK
trail cam!
I mentioned a few weeks back that I was gifted a trail cam. Until last night it triggered a bunch of times due to wind and snow but this is the first time I finally caught an animal, a cute little deer <3
She was staring very intently into the camera. It blinks a red light when it detects motion so I am guessing it caught her attention. Not sure f I should cover the light or not in the future...
