These gifs perfectly describe that entire Phillies-Mets game for me. Just a really tough loss. The Phillies just have not measured up in this series. Seems like the Mets are just too good right now.
The Phillies were hitting the ball hard for awhile, the Mets were just hitting the ball a bit harder, and more often. Not rocket science I guess.
There's really not one person to blame really. If I had to really nitpick, I think the most disappointing player would have to be Aaron Nola. We really needed him to be his best and well, he wasn't. He wasn't terrible, but he was a not even close to good let alone excellent. Feels like the Mets could have scored a lot more on him. They hit a lot of balls very hard consistently. In the second inning when Nola allowed his first run, was a great example of this. He allowed one run AND he actually got out of the inning in eleven pitches but the Mets hit like half of those pitches VERY hard. It was the most stressful eleven pitch inning I may have ever seen.
Like I said, picking on Nola is a bit nitpicky but this is the playoffs man, and he was far from clutch.
The offense was not much better whatsoever than Nola. Only scoring two runs is usually not ideal. I give them a tiny crumb of credit for being aggressive and hitting the ball hard a few times but yeah close is not going to cut it.
One player on offense that needs to step up is Alec Bohm man. He almost had a double but got thrown out at second. Infuriating. Good play by the Mets outfielder but man, it didn't even look like Bohm was running that hard. Maybe it's his long legs but he just looked kinda slow in my opinion.
With all this negativity, let's inject some hope into this post...

Tomorrow is going to be surely insanely stressful. Whole season on the line man. Also, Ranger Suarez is on the mound. Which is kind of horrifying considering Suarez has kind of struggled lately and the Mets well, aren't.
But one game fellas. Win one game. Then, reward yourselves by heading back to Philly for Game 5. You guys worked all season for this bye and high seed, make the Mets pay for simply being a Wild Card team.
I hope the bullpen is ready in case Suarez is awful tomorrow. Maybe the Mets will come in complacent since they are just one win away and they assume Suarez is going to stink. Suarez. This team needs you to pitch out of your mind!!!
The Phillies face Jose Quintana tomorrow. Respectable pitcher but not unhittable whatsoever.
Intense series, but let's go fellas. You are all being tested. This is pretty much for all the marbles boys. I still believe!!!
