🦉 The common sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos)

    • Actitis (Greek) - inhabitant of the coast
    • hypoleucos (Greek): - whitish

These pinocchios arrive around the beginning of May, when it is already warm and the rivers have melted, but in the neighboring steppe region I meet them at the end of April in flooded meadows near lakes.
The bird is very restless and constantly on the move, back and forth, from shore to shore.

Wandering along shallow water or the river bank, this bird sometimes shakes its tail like a wagtail, and looks for food in the form of spiders, small crustaceans and mollusks.
