Hoy celebramos el día del libro y quisiera aprovechar la oportunidad para escribir un post precisamente sobre un tipo de libro que me ayuda mucho para mi crecimiento personal y que quisiera recomendar. Creo que una clase de libros que puede ser de mucho provecho para el ser humano son los de tipo autobiográfico ya que allí la misma persona en cierta forma desnuda su alma y la presenta, nos relata situaciones por las que pasó y cómo fue su respuesta, de esta manera lo que vivió nos puede servir de cierta guía para nuestra propia existencia que aunque no es igual, puesto que cada vida es una historia única, hay actitudes humanas que permanecen en el tiempo y hacen brillar lo más grande de la humanidad más allá del mismo.
En esta ocasión quiero comentarles sobre la autobiografía de San Juan Bosco titulada Memorias del Oratorio donde voy a resaltar aquellos elementos humanos que más llamaron mi atención. Me parece una lectura interesante y recomendable para los interesados ya que se trata de uno de los santos de la iglesia católica de la edad contemporánea más populares, de manera especial por su trabajo con la juventud y su fundación de la congregación de los salesianos. Se trata de una autobiografía de los comienzos del oratorio desde el año 1815 (nacimiento del Santo) pasando por las primeras fundaciones hasta llegar al año 1855.
Dónde se forman las gemas?
Si nos ponemos a revisar la historia de grandes seres humanos vamos a conseguir que en común tuvieron que pasaron por grandes dificultades, la vida de Don Bosco, como se le conoce popularmente no es una excepción. Y aquí pienso no solo en aquellas que tuvo para el cumplimiento de sus sueños sino las que le acompañaron desde su infancia. En efecto, su padre muere cuando él tiene dos años de edad, cayeron la responsabilidad de la casa sobre su madre y un hermanastro que al parecer nunca comprendió su vocación y le puso muchos obstáculos en el camino.
Desde los 9 años tuvo que empezar a combinar el estudio con el trabajo y a valerse de sus talentos para ayudar al sustento de las necesidades del hogar, dejando además aquí una enseñanza sobre la relación sana con el dinero pues se esforzó desde pequeño por el mismo para poder cubrir y ayudar en diversas circunstancias. A pesar de todas estas dificultades o como me gusta decir a mí gracias a ellas se formó su carácter y la actitud que va a asumir en los retos venideros que el destino le tendrá dispuesto, más aún es en este contexto donde se formó su espíritu.
Uno de gran talla que me gustaría mencionar fue descubierto por otro gran ser humano que él apreció mucho y que también murió en su infancia, el padre Calosso, a quién le debemos el mérito de haber descubierto esta gema que tanto aportó y por medio de la congregación que fundó sigue aportando a la humanidad.
Comienzos humildes
A menudo cuando vemos grandes obras ante nuestros ojos perdemos de vista lo que hay detrás de ellas, es decir, el trabajo que ameritó llegar hasta allí, los esfuerzos involucrados para que todo fuera una realidad, los primeros pequeños pasos que se dieron gracias a los cuales se fueron logrando las metas u objetivos establecidos. Porque, al final, todo tiene un pequeño comienzo y poco a poco se va labrando la obra que se tiene en mente.
El caso de Don Bosco no fue la excepción ya que podemos encontrar semillas de lo que serán los oratorios en su juventud temprana, puesto que va a reunir a sus amigos, cultivar buenas relaciones y plantear actividades de recreación y formación para sacarlos del ocio, ofreciéndoles un espacio y el ambiente propicio para un sano crecimiento.
Como anécdota relatada por él me llamó la atención como apenas unos meses luego de ordenado sacerdote, exactamente el 8 de diciembre de 1841, que relata que reza un Ave María con un joven que estaba dispuesto a empezar a reunirse con él junto con otros jóvenes y en medio de juegos empezar a recibir clases de catecismo. Él dice que ese Ave María fue el comienzo de todo, como vemos un pequeño acto que derivó en una gran obra.

El valor de la constancia
Una vez leí que se logran más cosas con la disciplina que con la inteligencia, yo diría que más que contradecir una y otra ser disciplinado es parte de tener una buena inteligencia, porque en realidad muchas cosas se logran es gracias a la perseverancia que tenemos y el empeño que ponemos.
Una de las cosas que puede sorprender el leer estas Memorias de la Oratorio de Don Bosco, es que fue complicado instituirlo, tuvo muchísimas dificultades y obstáculos persecuciones y hasta maltrato, no obstante, gracias a que fue constante lo logró, incluso llegó a decir con palabras más o menos semejantes o actualizadas para nuestro hoy que su obra estuvo primero en su mente antes de hacerse una realidad, por ello, se afanó mucho por ella.
Cada una de nosotros también tiene sus luchas, y batallas que superar, el ejemplo de lo que realizó este santo, este gran ser humano, está allí para inspirarnos a que no desmayemos ante las dificultades sino que sigamos luchando por nuestros sueños hasta lograrlos. Como nota anecdótica y curiosa Don Bosco es popular por sus sueños (los cuales tuvo desde pequeño), incluso el dejó registro de muchos de ellos, los cuales en su mayoría se cumplieron.

Today we celebrate the day of the book and I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to write a post precisely about a type of book that helps me a lot for my personal growth and that I would like to recommend. I believe that a kind of books that can be of great use for the human being are those of autobiographical type since there the same person in a certain way undresses his soul and presents it, tells us situations that he passed through and how his response was, in this way what he lived can serve us as a certain guide for our own existence that although it is not equal, since each life is a unique story, there are human attitudes that remain in time and make the greatest of humanity shine beyond itself.
On this occasion I want to comment on the autobiography of Saint John Bosco entitled Memories of the Oratory where I will highlight those human elements that most caught my attention. It seems to me an interesting and recommended reading for those interested since it is one of the most popular saints of the contemporary Catholic Church, especially for his work with youth and his foundation of the Salesian congregation. It is an autobiography of the beginnings of the oratory from the year 1815 (birth of the Saint) going through the first foundations until reaching the year 1855.
Where are gems formed?
If we start to review the history of great human beings, we will find that in common they had to go through great difficulties, the life of Don Bosco, as he is popularly known, is no exception. And here I think not only of those who had for the fulfillment of his dreams but those that accompanied him from his childhood. In effect, his father dies when he is two years old, the responsibility of the house fell on his mother and a stepbrother who apparently never understood his vocation and put many obstacles in his way.
From the age of 9 he had to start combining study with work and use his talents to help support the needs of the home, also leaving here a teaching about the healthy relationship with money because he strived from a young age for it to be able to cover and help in various circumstances. Despite all these difficulties or as I like to say thanks to them his character and the attitude he will assume in the coming challenges that destiny will have arranged for him were formed, even more it is in this context where his spirit was formed.
One of great stature that I would like to mention was discovered by another great human being whom he appreciated very much and who also died in his childhood, Father Calosso, to whom we owe the merit of having discovered this gem that contributed so much and through the congregation he founded continues to contribute to humanity.
Humble Beginnings
Often when we see great works before our eyes we lose sight of what is behind them, that is to say, the work that it deserved to get there, the efforts involved so that everything was a reality, the first small steps that were taken thanks to which the goals or objectives established were being achieved. Because, in the end, everything has a small beginning and little by little the work that is in mind is being worked on.
The case of Don Bosco was no exception since we can find seeds of what will be the oratories in his early youth, since he will gather his friends, cultivate good relationships and propose recreational and educational activities to take them out of leisure, offering them a space and the appropriate environment for healthy growth.
As an anecdote recounted by him, it caught my attention how just a few months after being ordained a priest, exactly on December 8, 1841, he recounts praying a Hail Mary with a young man who was ready to start meeting with him along with other young people and in the middle of games start receiving catechism classes. He says that that Hail Mary was the beginning of everything, as we see a small act that led to a great work.

The value of constancy
Once I read that more things are achieved with discipline than with intelligence, I would say that more than contradicting each other, being disciplined is part of having good intelligence, because in reality many things are achieved thanks to the perseverance we have and the effort we put in.
One of the things that can surprise you reading these Memoirs of the Oratory of Don Bosco is that it was difficult to establish it, it had many difficulties and obstacles, persecutions and even abuse, however, thanks to his constancy he achieved it, he even came to say with words more or less similar or updated for our today that his work was first in his mind before becoming a reality, therefore, he worked very hard for it.
Each of us also has our own struggles and battles to overcome. The example set by this saint, this remarkable human being, serves as an inspiration to persevere in the face of adversity and tirelessly pursue our dreams until we achieve them. Interestingly, Don Bosco is known for his dreams, which he had since childhood, and he even kept a record of many of them, most of which came true.
