A huge hello to everyone of you beautiful musicians. This is Hive Open Mic week 249, and the theme for this week is TRAVEL.

The moment I heard the theme, the first song that crossed my mind was COUNTRY ROADS BY JOHN DENVER, a classic country song. I am very sure that everyone must have heard this song at one time or the other in their lives, even if they don't really know the whole song. It is simply a timeless classic.

In this song, John Denver tries to immortalize in song his feelings of longing, love of nature, and homely comfort for the mountainous geography of West Virginia that he considers home.

This song has been a hit all over the world, and I believe the reason is simply because a lot of people genuinely relate to that feeling of longing for home, especially when times are hard.

I edited the audio of this video on Bandlab, which I am now kind of regretting and having second thoughts about😂. Anyways, I hope at least one person out there enjoys this.

Here is a YouTube link to a live performance of the song by John Denver himself.

Here are the lyrics of the song.
    Almost Heaven, West Virginia
    Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze

    Country roads, take me home
    To the place I belong
    West Virginia, mountain mama
    Take me home, country roads

All my memories gather 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

    Country roads, take me home
    To the place I belong
    West Virginia, mountain mama
    Take me home, country roads

I hear her voice in the mornin' hour, she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
Drivin' down the road, I get a feelin'
That I should've been home yesterday, yesterday

    Country roads, take me home
    To the place I belong
    West Virginia, mountain mama
    Take me home, country roads
    Country roads, take me home
    To the place I belong
    West Virginia, mountain mama
    Take me home, country roads
Take me home, (down) country roads
Take me home, (down) country roads
