This time I want to show you an exotic fruit, very precious, nutritious and tasty, the Chinese tamarind also known by other names such as: tamarind culi, star fruit, carambola, carambolero or Chinese fruit. I was visiting a friend's house and he had a tree of this fruit and he gave me a lot of it, I wanted to know about the fruit and I did some research and I was surprised how fabulous it is, that's why here I'm going to tell you what I found out about it.


    The Chinese tamarind is a fruit native to Indonesia, it is also called carambolo or star fruit, because of its shape . It is a sweet fruit, yellow and / or orange when ripe, is very juicy, a little acidic, somewhat fibrous and is highly recommended for people of all ages, even infants, because of its health properties, is highly antioxidant, it slows aging, serves to lose weight, due to the amount of fiber it has which helps the intestinal process, so it relieves constipation and is also very good for maintaining oral health, is recommended to help hypertension, diabetes, circulation and heart disease.


    The Chinese tamarind tree is a tropical evergreen shrub that receives the scientific name as Averrhoa carambola and is of the oxilidaceae family, has 3 to 5 meters high, its leaves distributed throughout the length of its branches, where the fruits are also found, in the form of clusters, as in the trunk, where clusters of fruits are also produced. The plant is born by seeds or by grafting. They are plants of high medicinal and nutritional value.


    This plant has wonderful nutritional benefits, among them: carbohydrates, vitamin C, B complex vitamins, carotenes, fiber and minerals such as: phosphorus, copper, potassium, boron, calcium, magnesium and manganese. But it also has antioxidant compounds such as fumaric acid, succinic acid and tartaric acid.


    Although it contains some harmful substances for people suffering from gastritis, renal deficiency and gout, because it also has oxalic acid, and consumption in this fruit can cause intoxication and subsequent neurological deterioration to people affected by those ailments.


    The Chinese tamarind is a plant that has significant benefits and properties with its consumption that can be raw or cooked, as you prefer, usually in juices, salads or syrup, is often used as decoration in drinks and desserts, due to the 5-pointed star shape, very nice, it has when cut. They also serve as a condiment or accompaniment to fish and seafood, in the preparation of soups, syrup, candies and breads.


    In short, this wonderful fruit is very versatile, as it is low in fat, which is why people who are watching their figure consume them and also pregnant women, due to its high nutritional content.
