En la academia donde trabajo hemos estado celebrando desde el mes pasado los cumpleaños de los niños y niñas y febrero no podía ser la excepción.
Planificamos celebrarlos para el día 29 con una pequeña reunión en la academia, donde los niños podrían pasar un día diferente comiendo dulces, tomando refrescos y además cantaríamos el tradicional pastel.
Como el mes anterior, fui la encargada de preparar dicho pastel y coincidió justo con la preparación de tres pasteles para mi clase del curso de repostería. Por lo que estaba algo colapsada pero por suerte tuve la idea de hacerlo el día anterior, así solo tendría pendiente la decoración.

At the academy where I work we have been celebrating since last month the children's birthdays and February could not be the exception.
We planned to celebrate them on the 29th with a small gathering at the academy, where the children could spend a different day eating candy, having refreshments and we would also sing the traditional cake.
As in the previous month, I was in charge of preparing the cake and it coincided with the preparation of three cakes for my baking class. So I was a bit overwhelmed but luckily I had the idea of doing it the day before, so I would only have to do the decoration.
Como mi esposo había guardado el pastel en el horno, me tocaba colocarlo de nuevo a temperatura ambiente para poder decorarlo. Así que lo metí algunos minutos en el horno (cosa que aprendí en internet 😂) y mágicamente volvió a ser lo mismo que cuando estuvo recién horneado.
Luego preparé un merengue suizo, cosa que he podido ir perfeccionando a medida que voy haciendo estas decoraciones. Le pedí a una compañera del curso que me prestara un poco de colorante para que no se viera blanco y aburrido. Me prestó un color azul.
Luego coloqué todo en una manga y lo decoré. Como no contaba con un montón de merengue decidí hacer detalles en el borde del pastel y en el centro coloqué unas galletas trituradas.
Para ser mi segunda vez decorando no ha quedado tan mal la cosa. ♥ Espero para el pastel de este mes poder hacerle algo diferente.
Since my husband had kept the cake in the oven, I had to bring it back to room temperature so I could decorate it. So I put it in the oven for a few minutes (something I learned on the internet 😂) and it magically came back to what it was when it was freshly baked.
Then I made a Swiss meringue, which I've been able to perfect as I've been making these decorations. I asked a classmate to lend me some coloring so it wouldn't look white and boring. She lent me a blue color.
Then I put everything in a piping bag and decorated it. As I didn't have a lot of meringue I decided to make details on the edge of the cake and in the center I put some crushed cookies.
For my second time decorating it, it didn't turn out so bad. ♥ I hope for this month's cake I can do something different.
Me arreglé y me fui de inmediato a la academia porque ya se había hecho la hora. Al llegar ya habían un montón de niños en la sala de ballet. Yo me fui hasta el salón de pintura a acomodar todo para cuando fuéramos a cantar el cumpleaños.
Increíblemente esos minutos pasaron súper rápido y no pasó ni media hora de haber llegado cuando ya estábamos acomodando todo para cantar el cumpleaños.
En todo momento me quedé en la sala de pintura, estaba algo cansada para tratar con los niños. Habían sido dos días súper agotadores porque tuve curso y mi cuerpo aún estaba algo cansado.
I got dressed and left immediately for the academy because it was already time. When I arrived there were already a lot of children in the ballet room. I went to the painting room to get everything ready for when we were going to sing the birthday song.
Incredibly those minutes went by super fast and it wasn't even half an hour after arriving when we were already getting everything ready to sing the birthday song.
All the time I stayed in the painting room, I was a little tired to deal with the kids. It had been two very tiring days because I had a course and my body was still a little tired.
Comenzamos a organizar unas servilletas con las galletas que habían llevado algunos niños y entregarlas junto al pastel. El resto de los dulces se les había dado durante la fiesta.
Luego se colocaron a todos en fila y se llevaron a la sala de pintura.
We began to organize some napkins with the cookies that some of the children had brought and deliver them next to the cake. The rest of the candy had been given to them during the party.
Then they were all lined up and taken to the painting room.
Al entrar aprovechamos para tomarnos algunas fotos para el recuerdo. Todos estaban bien contentos con nuestra pequeña celebración.
As we entered, we took the opportunity to take some pictures for the memory. Everyone was very happy with our little celebration.
Este mes solo teníamos una cumpleañera. Yo le hice unas letra de feliz cumpleaños en la pizarra. Cantamos el cumpleaños y ya luego cortamos el pastel para comenzar a repartir entre los niños.
This month we only had one birthday girl. I wrote happy birthday letters on the chalkboard. We sang the birthday song and then cut the cake to start handing out to the children.
La celebración fue todo un éxito. Los niños disfrutaron un montón, se devoraron el pastel y pasaron un rato agradable y diferente.
Esta clase de actividades nos llenan mucho porque sabemos que son cosas fuera de lo común en la vida de los niños, que permite que se conozcan un poco más allá de lo que pueden hacerlo durante las clases y que nos llena de satisfacción. ♥
The celebration was a great success. The children enjoyed a lot, they devoured the cake and had a nice and different time.
These kinds of activities are very fulfilling for us because we know that they are things out of the ordinary in the children's lives, that allow them to get to know each other a little bit more than they can during the classes and that fills us with satisfaction. ♥
