The Icy Tree Branches

    Hello, my friends, photography lovers.

It has been an icy winter in our area for several days (or rather for more than a week). Alternately, it snows, then thaws, then frosts again. Although, in recent days, it has not been snowing, raining, or hail from the sky. What we call "icy rain" is pouring from the sky. It seems to be water, it does not get on objects and immediately freezes, turning into an ice crust.

I somehow got caught in such a downpour and my jacket was quickly covered with a thin layer of ice.

But plants are most at risk. All branches of trees and bushes are covered with an ice shell.

And they have been in this form for several days. A slight warming suits the shell, but it drizzles again, and then frost fixes it on the branches. And everything turns back into an enchanted icy world.

In the evening, in the light of street lighting, all the trees shine and shimmer like crystal. But the long strands of willow branches even sometimes tinkle in the silence of the evening from a light breeze.

For us, of course, this is just beauty, but for the trees themselves it is not an easy test. After all, this ice greatly weights their branches. And they don't have flexibility now, as in summer, the juice doesn't flow inside the branches.

In this condition, branches can break under their own weight. And they don't breathe because of such a shell.

The greatest trouble is for young twigs. They are sensitive to warming. A few warm days, and buds are already appearing on them. then the ice covers it all. Most likely, these buds will not produce new leaves in the spring.

But for photography lovers, this is a great time to shoot. It's a pity that my smartphone does not allow you to take good pictures at night, but during the day you can take as many photos as you want.
