Animal lovers, especially dogs and cats, which also tend to be our favorite companion animals, tend to have a penchant for a particular color, size or even breed.
Before I formally begin, I wish to point out that over time I have learned that to love a companion animal (pet) does not have to be a breed. They are all worthy and deserving of a home where they are provided with food, love and care, I also discovered that for example in the case of Creole dogs as they are called in Venezuela, also known as mestizos, they are less prone to hereditary diseases and also prove to be excellent guardians.
On the other hand, pedigree cats in some cases also tend to have problems associated with their genetic inheritance, for example, Ragdolls and Maine Coons have a genetic predisposition to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, so it is important to give a second chance to mestizos so they can have a home and many times the ways in which pedigree animals are exploited to reproduce and sell them is terrible, that is why I have not bought or believe that I will buy a pedigree animal.

Now, whether we know this or not, we all have breeds of cats or dogs that we prefer or are not inclined towards. I have cats, but that doesn't mean I don't like dogs, of which I've also had a few.
If I had to choose between dog breeds there are three that I love starting with German shepherds, this breed seems beautiful and elegant to me, its size although large, is charming and have proven to be dogs that respond very well to training, I also love the Rottweiler, another large breed that by its color and having demonized it a bit in some movies, intimidates those who do not know them, but has also proven to adapt to training and having met several I know that although their appearance can intimidate, they are affectionate.
Finally, the only small breed dog I like is the West Highland white terrier known as the Westie, they are mini furballs with a great personality and like a good terrier they are energetic, determined, and often a bit restless.
As for cats there are two breeds that I love, the first one is the imposing Maine Coon that can grow up to 120 cm and in the case of the males they can weigh up to 12 kilos with their beautiful long fur and the distinctive big ears that end with tufts that make them resemble lynxes, they attract attention, it is said that they have a very sweet character, but it is essential that they are allowed to live with their mother and siblings until they finish their socialization stage.
The other breed of cats for which I have an inclination and I have two specimens are the Siamese, I have a traditional one (Seal point) called Pocholo and a Tabby Point, of this breed I love their fur and how expressive they are, they are also affectionate in their own way, none of mine like to be carried, but they look for affection in other ways, they are also very meticulous about their grooming, they groom themselves more than my other cats.

Los amantes de los animales, especialmente los perros y gatos, los que además suelen ser los animales de compañía preferidos, solemos tener inclinación por algún color, tamaño y hasta raza en particular.
Antes de comenzar formalmente, deseo señalar que con el tiempo he aprendido que para amar a un animal de compañía (mascota) no tiene que ser de raza. Pues todos son dignos y merecedores de un hogar en el que se les proporcione alimento, cariño y cuidados, además descubrí que por ejemplo en el caso de los perros criollos como se les lama en Venezuela, conocidos también como mestizos, son menos propensos a enfermedades hereditarias y además resultan ser excelentes guardianes.
Por su parte, los gatos de raza en algunos casos también suelen tener problemas asociados a su herencia genética como por ejemplo los, Ragdoll y los Maine Coon tienen predisposición genética a Cardiomiopatía hipertrófica, así que es importante darle una segunda oportunidad a los mestizos para que ellos tengan un hogar y muchas veces las maneras en las que se explota a los animales de raza para que se reproduzcan y venderlos es terrible, por eso yo no he comprado ni creo que lo haga un animal de raza.
Ahora bien, sea que sepamos esto o no, todos tenemos razas de gatos o perros que preferimos o por las cuales no inclinamos. Yo tengo gatos, pero no por ello dejan de gustarme los perros, de los cuales también he tenido algunos.
Si tuviera que elegir entre razas de perros hay tres que me encantan comenzando con los pastores alemanes esta raza me parece hermosa y elegante, su tamaño aunque grande, es encantadora y han demostrado ser perros que responden muy bien a los entrenamientos, también me encantan los rottweiler, otra raza grande que por su color y al haberla satanizado un poco en algunas películas, intimida a quienes no los conocen, pero también ha demostrado adaptarse al adiestramiento además de que al haber conocido varios sé que aunque su aspecto puede intimidar, son cariñosos.
Finalmente, el único perro de raza pequeña que me gusta es el West Highland white terrier conocido como Westie,son unas mini bolas de pelos con una gran personalidad y que como buen terrier son energéticos, decididos, y, a menudo, algo inquietos.
En cuanto a gatos hay dos razas que me encantan la primera los imponentes Maine Coon que llegan a crecer hasta 120 cm y el caso de los machos pueden llegar a pesar hasta 12 kilos con su hermoso pelaje largo y las distintivas orejas grandes que terminan con penachos los que los hace asemejarse a los de los linces, llaman la atención, se dice que tienen un carácter muy dulce, pero es determinante que se le permita vivir junto a su madre y hermanos hasta termine su etapa de socialización.
La otra raza de gatos por la que tengo inclinación y tengo dos ejemplares son los siameses, tengo uno tradicional (Seal point ) que se llama Pocholo y una Tabby Point, de esta raza me encanta su pelaje y lo expresivos que son, además son cariñosos a su manera a ninguno de los míos les gusta mucho que los cargue, pero si buscan que les demuestre el afecto de otras formas, además son muy meticulosos en cuanto a su aseo personal se acicalan más que mis otros gatos.
En resumen, estas son las razas de perros y gatos que más me gustan, así me despido dejando por acá mi participación en el tema propuesto para el 26 de febrero en el Monthly Prompts | February INLEO
