Atari 2600 Game Leaving AtariAge Online Store

How many knew new Atari 2600 games are being made? Not only has Atari themselves gotten back into the action, but fans have been doing it for decades now. The AtariAge online store is one popular distribution method for new games for the venerable console. Sadly, not all titles remain available forever, for instance this article is about a title leaving AtariAge on July 1st 2024.

A Genre on Atari Not Often Visited

Your goal in Skeleton+ is to survive eight labyrinthine dungeons that are occupied by 10 skeletons each. This is a 3D first person view action strategy game. Not exactly a genre that the Atari 2600 boasted tons of releases in.

There are various selectables in Skeleton+ such as how many skeletons you start off against (five or ten), your life bar, damage received, etc.

Interestingly, Skeleton+ works with stereo modded Atari 2600 consoles giving you an extra edge in locating the skeletons in the maze.

A Title That Flew Under the Radar

I have been covering the retro gaming community since 2009 and do not remember Skeleton+. I am not saying no one knew about it, just somehow, I missed it and any coverage of it in the community. A quick search on YouTube provides a bit more coverage than the same search on Google does. Sad that such an interesting title was not touted more by the retrogaming press.

Skeleton+ was made available in online stores such as Good Deal Games (sold out) and of course the AtariAge online store. Other than those two, I cannot find any sources to buy the game. Not even eBay has copies available for purchase.

If you want Skeleton+ then it is a very good idea to buy this one while you can on the AtariAge store.
