Greetings Hivers! I am Iris from East Java Indonesia. I am a working mom, casual nature photographer, spontaneous wanderer with a little bit stray cat tendency. It's around a month since I joined Hive community and this is the first time I wrote at the @worldmappin because I think the place that I planned to introduce to you deserve more than a story to tell.
This beach is called Tanjung Penyu Beach, one of hidden gem in East Java South Beach Line. It was currently open to public so the place is relatively clean with saphire and emerald green water and pearly white sandy beaches. It was around 3 hours drive from the center of Malang city. The route was actually pretty safe, though you still have to pass some winding road that passed through the mountain with steep hills and slope. We were greeted by a vast sugarcane fields, paddy fileds, and towering rainforest.
It has a camping ground, a gazebo area, and 3 main beaches with distinc charms. Below is the beach in front of the camping ground, a fine long coast with a nice coral reef that break the waves so they slowly kissed the beach. I got some amazing photos on the coral reef and the coastal area here.
The next beach is right in front of the gazebo area where we could rest and keep our belongings clean. It has shaddy trees and some coconut trees also food vendors as well. I went there with my husband and son also with my mother and younger sister. We thought that it was very nice to have the gazebos here so we can rest while my son building the sand castle with my husband happily.
The beach here was the cape area, with steeper sand line and big waves. It was also the surfing area, but since we were not surfers, I couldn't tell how was the waves, but from the sight of it, they were pretty mean yet beautiful. While my mother and hubby preferred to enjoy the view from the shady gazebo, my son and my sister are much like me who enjoyed getting swayed by the waves. Especially when the weather was so fine and sunny, we just wanted to stay wet despite the burning sun.
And the last beach was more like a slope where we can enjoy the waves saver than the main cape, however there are no shade there and it was smaller than the one in front of the camping ground. We tried to enjoy the waves here but just couldn't stand the heat. Also it got big rocks and sharp corals underneath although It had a really cool wall of reef and a petite cliff that separated this Tanjung Penyu beach area with other beaches. I took some beautiful shoots here as well with breathtaking shades of blue on the background.
We stayed until the sun almost set because we need to drive back preferably when the sun still up because we would passed areas without street light. Even though, we still got chance to see the beaches when it was low tide that revealed beautiful coral and rocks underneath. When the tide is really low, you can also cross over to the nearest big coral rock, although it was dangerous because you never know when the high tide will be back.
It was a day that I would never forget and fully recharge me with vitamin-sea! I would really recommended all of you to visit this beach and make memories. Don't worry about the facilities, because it already got a lot of public lavatories, food vendors, and even camping tools rentals.
