The mouse had long since dodged the claws of the tabby cat, delighting in outwitting his enemy time and time again.
But the mouse's ego had grown too big for him to notice the new threat lurking in the house.
One night, while ransacking the pantry, he triggered the spring trap set for him by the little boy of the house.
-I've got you, -the little boy shouted, running towards him with his prey.
The mouse squealed in terror, frantically trying to get away as the trap was carried away.
The cat came to his rescue and managed to free him.
From that day on they stopped their nightly mischief, although enemies,
they shared a grudging respect after so many battles.
