then fate drags them to become educators
by pretending to be critical
or pretending to be smart
this is where we are crushed
in the circle of pseudo education
coming and sitting listening to lectures
or lecturers' complaints
because they are not given positions by their superiors
or telling stories about their wives
who went with other men
or telling stories about their husbands
who went with other women
and for stories like that
students have to pay
four million seven hundred and eighty-seven rupiah
how low the currency is
how high the headspace tribute is
with cheap stories
like burning a pile of money
that we get with blood
and tears
for months
to exchange it for a cheap story
for six months
then the parents of students
hurt themselves
to get the tribute
for the next six months

entah diisi apa oleh orang-orang di depan kelas
yang tak punya pekerjaan lain
lalu nasib menyeretnya menjadi pendidik
dengan berpura-pura kritis
atau berpura-pura pintar
di sinilah kita tergilas
dalam lingkaran pseudo pendidikan
datang dan duduk mendengar ceramah
atau curhatan dosen
karena tidak diberi jabatan oleh atasan
atau berkisah tentang istrinya
yang pergi dengan lelaki lain
atau berkisah tentang suaminya
yang pergi dengan wanita lain
dan untuk kisah seperti itu
mahasiswa harus membayar
empat juta tujuh ratus delapan puluh tujuh rupiah
betapa rendahnya mata uang
betapa tingginya upeti ruang kepala
dengan kisah-kisah murahan
seperti membakar setumpuk uang
yang kita dapatkan dengan darah
dan air mata
berbulan-bulan
untuk menukarkan dengan kisah murahan
selama enam bulan
lalu orang tua mahasiswa
menyakiti diri
untuk mendapatkan upeti
enam bulan berikutnya
