Hi!
Due to ongoing issues with GUdecks meta stats, I decided to write a summary of this weekend’s most effective and popular archetypes. Gumeta is a very efficient tool to quickly check what people are playing and observe meta shifts throughout the weekend. I usually set the timeframe to 12 hours and the rank filter to Mythic only to capture the most competitive data.
Popularity and Winrate
I’ll focus on Mythic since players here use the best and most optimized versions of archetypes. As a general rule, the lower you go in ranks, the more aggro archetypes you’ll encounter, so lower-ranked decks must be adjusted to handle aggro better.
War, War Never Changes
War archetypes continue to be very popular, as usual. Zoo War consistently hovers around a 50% win rate with high popularity but this weekend it's quite bad for aggro War. In recent weeks, a powerful new archetype has emerged: the Carvings deck, which can effectively handle almost anything by turns 5.5 or 6. The best strategy against Carvings is either to defeat it quickly or to build a very durable or protected full board.
Nature
Control Nature, as always, has answers to nearly everything. To counter it, the strategy is often to apply fast pressure—Death is performing particularly well here. Amazons, especially with cards from the new set, boast a high win rate and are quite consistent. The main drawback is that Amazons are an all-in deck, but with recent additions, they now have reach, meaning they can deliver the remaining damage in one turn, even without a board.
Light
Heal Light seems to be losing popularity, while Zoo/Olimpians Light remains quite playable, maintaining a 50% win rate.
Death
Dragons continue to be strong but are vulnerable to void hate and sustained board pressure from Zoo archetypes. Zombies have been a surprising success, though it could be due to a limited sample size.
Magic
No significant changes in the win rates for Ramp and Atlantean builds. However, a new variant of the Coronet deck has surfaced, which uses Portal Wrangler to summon two large creatures in one turn when going 2nd. This variation appears to perform well against aggro decks.
Deception
Zoo Deception is still playable, though the win rate has dropped to around 50%. It’s possible that many Deception players have shifted to format mode.
I hope you enjoyed this quick recap! If you found it helpful and would like me to continue with weekly updates, please let me know in the comments.
Thanks,
