Uno de los deportes más vistosos en Venezuela es el llamado deporte nacional, las bolas criollas, aunque seguro tendrá sus detractores, ya que para muchos y más en la época moderna, el beisbol, es el encargado de llevar esa distinción.

Lo cierto, es que las bolas criollas es un deporte netamente del campo y los caseríos ubicados en todos los alrededores del país y luego de la gran migración que significo el éxodo de los sitios rurales de personas que dejaron sus tierras para irse a vivir a la ciudad en busca de mejoras generales para sus familias. Así que para llevarse un pedacito de sus raíces, se llevaron consigo el deporte característico compuesto por un "mingo" y las bolas.

En la actualidad, este deporte se juega en todos los centros sociales y deportivos del país, se pueden observar categorías, femeninas, masculinas, mixtas y de todas las edades. Es impensable encontrar un club sin que se pueda apreciar el patio de bolas. Además, que esto significa la oportunidad de expender licores y distintos productos para el consumo de las personas.

En la noche del viernes, tuvimos la oportunidad de asistir a un encuentro en el centro deportivo América, donde disfrutamos de una partida femenina y otra masculina. El espectáculo estaba servido para toda la familia que se dio cita en el sitio. El ambiente era increíble, cargado de gran energía y mucha camaradería. En verdad disfruto mucho este ambiente familiar meramente criollo.

One of the most colorful sports in Venezuela is the so-called national sport, bolas criollas, although it will surely have its detractors, since for many and more in modern times, baseball is the one in charge of carrying that distinction.

The truth is that the bolas criollas is a sport purely from the countryside and hamlets located throughout the country and after the great migration that meant the exodus from rural areas of people who left their land to go live in the city in search of general improvements for their families. So, in order to take a little piece of their roots with them, they took with them the characteristic sport composed of a “mingo” and balls.

Nowadays, this sport is played in all the social and sports centers of the country, and it is possible to observe categories, feminine, masculine, mixed and of all ages. It is unthinkable to find a club without a ball court. Besides, this means the opportunity to sell liquors and different products for people's consumption.

On Friday night, we had the opportunity to attend a game at the America Sports Center, where we enjoyed a women's game and a men's game. The show was served for the whole family that gathered at the site. The atmosphere was incredible, full of great energy and camaraderie. I really enjoyed this purely Creole family atmosphere.
