India Nepal border - My experience of visiting beautiful village 'Rimbik'

Today I want to talk about a beautiful place called Rimbik. It is situated on India Nepal border under West Bengal, 60 km ahead of Darjeeling. This is one of the very beautiful, clean places.

I love how local people here decorate their houses with flowers. and it is not just a few flower pots. When I arrived my impression was that people sold flowers as there were so many flowers in front of each house, and gradually realized it was for their house decoration.

It is a tourist attraction place, and this village is one of the stoppages for trekkers. Trekkers start their journey from Rimbik to Sandakpur which is 18 km. Sandakpur is the highest peak in West Bengal. people trek from here to see Kanchenjunga. Kanchenjunga third-highest peak in the world, which is 8586 meters. From Sandakpur Kanchenjangha looks like a sleeping Budha, which is why people call it the sleeping Budha range. If the weather is in favorable condition trekkers/tourists can see Everest from here.

I visited this place twice due to the ultra run. I came here to volunteer. Hell Race organises a range of Ultramarathons in different parts of India. The Budha trail is an ultra-running event named after Kanchenjunga. A 65 km category runner can see a sleeping Buddha if the weather is clear.

Most of the time I volunteer to manage the timing area, making sure to note down the starting time of the race, and runners' finishing time, and sorting out if runners have not started running or might quit in between. Also tracking runners who might not be able to reach to finish line as per the cutoff time. As the sun goes down soon in the evening make sure everyone is safe while running on the trail.

One of the best things is the food too, a variety of local and popular food. This hotel serves very delicious food, which I enjoyed every time.

I liked the local market, water body, people, food, and roaming around the village, admiring the sunrise, sunset, rain, cats, trekking, and flowers.

We arrived here in the night and the next day when I woke up I thought I had overslept as the sun was very bright, it was only 7 am in the morning when I checked the time, as sun arrives very early.

I stayed here for one week in February month, and the regular day may look like from a very sunny day to a cloud, which seems to rain anytime in the afternoon, and again clear sky with a very beautiful sunset.

One of the best parts that I really liked about Rimbik is the unpredictable weather. I never get bored, Market starts very early in the day and close in the evening. People are very relaxed and easy to interact with.
