Still Worth It?

It has been a long time coming, but finally I have got a level 5 Quora, the previously kick ass Gladiator that was super hard to defend against. But, with the release of the last two sets and a lot of Giant Killer options, as well as plenty of powered up magic, it isn't quite as formidable as it once was. However, at L5 it gets its final ability, dispel, which does make it more useful since it can clear the added bonuses of other cards, which gives it more of a chance.

My Gladiator set is getting stronger, though it is still far from complete, and I especially am lacking in the Legendary cards, as I so incredibly rarely pull any at all. When the gladiator sets became playable in Ranked play, I thought that they were going to dominate, as a reward for those who have been consistently Brawling. But, with the release of the newer sets, and new abilities, as well as Bloodlust being added to quite a few cards, the once overpowered Gladiators, are not what they once were, but rather bit players, for particular rounds.

    Which makes me wonder...

Is it time to add some new Gladiators to the set, or since these are soulbound cards and can't be bought or sold, I wonder if it is possible to upgrade them somehow, giving them more usecase. Under normal circumstances this wouldn't fly at all, but with soulbound cards, there is no loss to any account that has them, as they have neither been able to sell thinking the cards weren't good enough, or buy based on the current stats.

This isn't likely to happen, of course.

It is just an interesting thing to consider in regards to the soulbound cards, as they have all been gained through rewards for playing, or farming, as the case may be. But, what I was pondering was whether the future of Land options could see that new abilities or stats could be developed for soulbound cards, in a way that would affect all cards. Would there be a possibility to be able for Land owners to change the abilities of some of the cards that are already in play, and if this was possible, what would that look like.

    Messy.

I don't recommend it. But it is interesting to consider nonetheless, where similar to a proposal system, Land Owners could work together to shape part of the playing meta, revising older cards to make them more useful again, or maybe even buffing back some of the newer ones.

That would make owning Land quite interesting, wouldn't it?

For instance, the Guilds with significant Land ownership would be able to slightly nudge the meta to favor their members, making guild membership even more valuable. At least, I think that there needs to be some more interaction between different pieces of the Splinterlands ecosystem, so that there is more value in being involved more broadly in the community. Land is going to allow for some of this to happen, but I am still fuzzy on exactly what that is going to be, and what I hear tends to be more speculative, and very complicated.

I am far too simple-minded for all of this.

I just want to play a bit, have some fun, and hopefully get some return on the investments I have made over the last three years. Is that too much to ask?

    Probably.

I wonder at what point the Gladiators will be unbound and hit the market, and what that would do to the overall gameplay, when people who haven't brawled, can get access. What is an L5 Quora worth?
