Madeira Island - Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)

    Porto Moniz Swimming Pools.jpg

After a short stop here to allow us a few days of vacation, I'll be back to show you where we've been :-)
This time the car was not an option (at least to get to the destination) and we took the little one on a plane for the first time.
Before leaving the archipelago, we asked my godfather for some tips, who visits this place at least twice a year.

So we went to the airport to catch our plane to Madeira and I went all the way asking all the saints that it wasn't windy and that the landing went well and was the first time :-)
The Madeira Archipelago is a world apart, made up of the lush Madeira Island, the serene Porto Santo Island, the isolated Desertas Islands and the mysterious Selvagens Islands. However, it is only in the first two that there are inhabitants.

The island itself is not very big but to be able to take advantage of everything it can offer, the stay should be at least seven days and it is best to rent a car.
Regarding the time of year that is considered the best to visit this island, I can say that any time is great. With a mild subtropical climate, average temperatures in the region remain stable throughout the year, fluctuating between 17/18°C in winter and 25/26°C in summer. Likewise, the temperature of the sea water varies little, remaining on average between 18°C in winter and 23°C in summer.

The first place I want to show you today is the Porto Moniz Swimming Pools, where you can find the wonderful Natural Saltwater Pools created by volcanic lava. Here we find Old Natural Pools (also known as Cachalote natural pools) or New Natural Pools, which are larger and offer conditions for bathing.
Both are of volcanic origin and their appearance allows sea water to enter.

In the case of Piscinas do Cacholete, there is no infrastructure created for bathers but they can count on surveillance throughout the year.
In the case of New Natural Pools, we can count on other amenities.
With an expansive solarium area covering around 3210 square meters, and a vast swimming area stretching over 3800 square meters, these pools provide plenty of space for the whole family. With a pleasant depth of around two meters, they are the ideal setting for moments of leisure and relaxation.

For younger guests, there is a specially dedicated swimming pool, accompanied by a safe playground where they can play and discover at their leisure. And to ensure the comfort of all visitors, these pools are equipped with changing rooms, a support bar, a first aid station and access for people with reduced mobility.

It is possible to rent sun loungers and umbrellas, allowing you to enjoy this bathing oasis in comfort and tranquility.
Tomorrow I'll bring more places and photos about this paradisiacal place.

    I hope you enjoyed.
    See you around.
Wishing you much peace and health
