Humanity’s future outside earth

Humanity surely is capable of surviving the hostile environment of outerspace, they only need time

I believe that the future of humanity outside planet earth is tied to many factors, i think the most important is our level on the Kardashev Scale of Civilization. The Kardashev scale is one which rates Civilizations according to Energy, energy they are able to harness and amass.

The Kardashev Scale, propounded by astronomer Nikolai Kardashev, proposes three main levels of Civilization, Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3. A type one civilization is one which can harness all energy available on its home planet, from solar to geo thermal, every single bit of it.

A Type two civilization is Capable of fully harnessing every bit of energy emitted by its host star and anyone nearby.

A type three Civilization on the other hand, is quite mind-blowing, a Type 3 civilization harnesses all kinds of energy in its galaxy, no known Catastrophe is capable of wiping out a type 3 civilization, they stand at the peak

Although Kardashev never mention a type 4 Civilization, it has been envisioned, a civilization capable of manipulating its environment and approaching divine possibilities.

Space travel would become available at a type one civilization, Physicist Freeman Dyson has calculated that Type I should be reached in about 200 years while Richard Carrigan has estimated that the Earth is just four-tenths of the way to Type I. Physicist and futurist Michio Kaku has suggested that, if humans increase their energy consumption at an average rate of 3 percent per year, they could reach Type I status in 100–200 years, Type II status in a few thousand years, and Type III status in 100,000 to a million years.

Personally, though I’m optimistic about the idea of space survival, I don’t think our planet is anywhere close to achieving it, we’ve barely discovered nor harnessed our planet to even bear the idea of leaving it , though one day it might come true, those of us reading this would be long gone and even this insignificant article of mine may be lost to time.

This is my entry for #Octoberineo prompt of the day, #day 20
