I welcome you to my blog. The Christmas season we all looked forward to has come and gone, and for many, the season went exactly how they planned it, giving room for plenty of fun, while for some, things did not go as planned, but they still managed to enjoy the season anyway. Christmas offers us the opportunity to spend time with family and friends, but this Christmas was a bit different for me, as I did not spend Christmas with my family; I did not go home until a day after Christmas. It did feel different indeed; I must say nothing beats spending Christmas at home and with loved ones, though spending Christmas at home can be stressful because of all the chores, but after all the chores comes a lot to eat and a lot to drink; there will definitely be merriment.
Christmas is that time of the year everyone looks forward to, even if not for the celebration, then for the holiday that comes with it. There are firms that the only holiday they observe is the Christmas holiday; workers in firms like this always pray for the Christmas season and holiday to last longer so they can at least spend some time with family or friends before they get back to their time-consuming and energy-draining jobs. Family members go months without getting to see each other but only keep in touch over the phone, but Christmas changes the whole story as we all get the opportunity to see family and friends face to face again.
Back home, once it is Christmas, you just know it is Christmas or there is a celebration around the corner, as my parents will go out of their way to make sure we are not left out of the celebration; they make provision of everything needed to make the Christmas celebration a memorable one. Sometimes by just stepping into the house, you already know there is something up, but this year it was not so for me since I spent my Christmas away from home, and I missed out on everything they enjoyed for Christmas. I woke up, picked up my phone, and after calling a few friends and family members to wish them a merry Christmas, I decided to round up some design work I was working on the previous day.
I spent my Christmas day all alone in school; there were little to no chores at all, and it was less stressful, and since I was alone, I did not even bother to cook at all. For the first time in a very long time, I wished there were chores for me to get done so that after those chores I could actually eat and merry like it has been since time immemorial. For real, it did not feel like Christmas. I do not wish to spend another Christmas this way; as I was all alone, I did not even bother myself to make any preparations. Back home there would have been fries from the 23rd day of December, but this year I did not see any or see anywhere that it was done since it is a student environment and no one really goes all out to make it happen like a family house would.
