Another day, another opportunity to play spl and rant about it on my blog. Last week I wrote about land 1.75 and it’s here. Yesterday, we had an extended maintenance which lasted for more than 2 hours. Now, it’s not a secret that each time we go into maintenance and come back the sps per win is crazy. So this days I don’t joke with playing modern after a maintenance window.

Yesterday in diamond I I was earning as high as 12 to 13 sps per win. Even when I mostly make it into diamond I I don’t earn this much sps per win. I earn around 7-8 sps per win when I am usually between diamond II and gold I.

There was this particular battle that I wanted to write about but since I didn’t save it I can’t talk about it. This battle was a surprise win cause the opponent had insane speed and it was only luck that I would have used in winning. He went in for a summoner that added +2 speed to his cards and also had 3 cards which added speed to all his cards as well. It was crazy but you know with magic anything is possible.

Away from that, we are going to write about a different battle. From the look of things I thought I had miscalculated and thought I’d loose this one. One weird thing about this whole game is that it takes you by surprise all the time. When you think you made a mistake that’s when you’ll realise that not over thinking the line up actually saved you.

So the Rulesets of this particular battle were familiar. The reverse speed and then the heavy hitters. For this one I only considered the reverse speed in choosing my line up.

I went in for the death element with Thaddius brood as my summoner. With the crypt beetle having just 2 speed it was a no brainer to put it in first position as my melee attacker. I choose chaos agent simply because I was left with 1 mana and had no other choice but to go in for it.

Next in line was revealed who I specifically choose because if it’s stunning ability. Spirit hoarder with its 1 speed was a good pick as well. And then finally I went in for doctor blight, a one in a million card who has the life leech ability and does a perfect job as your last position card.

Round one was a tricky one. Why do I say so? I literally thought my opponent was gonna gave the first kill as he was able to poison my crypt beetle in his first attack. This shook me cause having a summoner that reduced his doctor blight’s speed by one was a crazy one so I thought it’ll be difficult for his poison to have effect but it turns out u was wrong.

Turns out crypt beetle didn’t wanna die just yet so it hanged on till round 2. I made moves in round 1 and took out 2 of my opponent cards in round 1.

Round 2 had no surprises as I was already ahead of the curve. It was just a matter of time till I won and that was it. I was only scared of the outcome in round but things settled down in round 2 and it was a cool chop for me.
